Biergarten Restaurant-Good/Bad?

Hello. I am currently planning my next vacation to Disney World which will also be my honeymoon!! Since I am german, I really want to try the Biergarten Restaurant. I heard it a buffet but have only heard very few things about it. Can you help me out! What do you think?!

DH is 100% German and loves this place, a must do for us. The food is fantastic and there is a large amount of choices. The live band, dancing and ambiance are a hit with us

We ate there 2 weeks ago and LOVED it!!!!
The food was fabulous and so was the service. The band did a toast to us for our anniversary!! It was magical. I am doing a dining report on it.

We love Biergarten also! The menu is varied and seems to have something for everyone. The band is very enjoyable and service has been consistently good.
The tables seat 8 so you will/may be seated with strangers which can be part of the fun.

The manner of getting in the restaurant after checking in can be a bit of a mess, but we were there during the Candlelight Processional dinners. There is not much of a place to wait, so many people were sitting down at the tables for the counter service which left nothing for the poor people walking around with their bratwursts.

Love it love it love it. The only thing that I DIDN'T like was the Sauerbraten. I thought it was too dry...but my DH thought it was great. Go figure. I would go back in a heartbeat. Loved the band and the service. Try the wine or beer flights.

Well......we won't go back. It was never one of our favorites but after last time we just won't bother anymore.

I found a very long, curly black hair in my food. Really grossed me out. Then while dd18 and I are attempting to eat, the man and teenage son sitting across the table from us would not stop staring at my daughter (rude and obvious) and trying to look down her top. She stopped eating altogether. I finally got the waitress and told her I wanted the check as quick as possible and why.

They didn't care about the hair in the food and had such a blase attitude that we decided that there are too many places that we REALLY like to bother with this place again.

Well, at least it wasn't a SHORT curly black hair!!! LOL!!

It is gross, but it IS a buffet. That could have come from anywhere. Yes, the blase attitude is frustrating as are rude guests. But you could have encountered rude guests ANYWHERE. That can't really be held against the restaurant.

Reminding my DH that he will get to eat at the Biergarten, is one of the ways that I get him to go to WDW. The food is amazing, the band is always great, and the staff is wonderful. We always eat there at least twice during our trips. Only 369 days until I get to eat the Apple Strudel!!!!!

Thanks! I am really excited that almost all of the posts are good. I am soo pumped to go to Biergarten! I live in Michigan and if you don't know- Frankenmuth is in michigan and its like a little bavaria town. It's awesome and my DF and I love going there! So this place just tops it off because I'm sure the food will be way better and then atmosphere as well!

Is there anyway you can reserve seating alone? Or is it all long tables and thats it. It's not that I don't want to sit by people- but I want to be able to enjoy my food with out feeling like people are staring at me... or watching me eat.. plus, my df won't enjoy it if he fills like that either. But even if we have to- I will still- go!

I believe they are all the long 8 person tables. I have the same problem with eating. For me it mainly comes from my DBiL. I am a slow eater and my DBiL is a very fast eater. While I was dating my DH, after he got done eating, he would stare at me. I however have never had that problem at the Biergarten. We have gone where we never talk to the other people at our table, and other times we have had very nice conversations with the other people at our table. On our last trip, we met a nice family with a DS about the age of our 2 DS's. The three boys got a kick out of running into each other the rest of our trip. Honestly, I would not worry about it at all. There is so much to look at inside, that you won't even realize there are other people at the table. Have a great time, and make sure to leave room for the Apple Strudel with Vanilla Bean sauce.

We were there the 10th. We had a great time. We enjoyed the food. The soup was great. The entertainment was a lot of fun too. Have fun.

We ate there for the first time this summer and loved it. My brother wanted to try it and we are glad he did. we have been talking about our next trip in 2009 and have decided that if indeed we use the DDP this is on the list.

It's all long tables. it's very common practice to sit with total strangers in restaurants in Germany. They don't think anything of it.

I think you'll find it's a fun experience. We were there at Thanksgiving and loved it. I was a little concerned about sitting with strangers but our son, who had spent a month in Germany over the summer, was excited. He also thought the food was very similar to what he had there. Plus, the buffet had a wonderful pork roast and chicken, so if you're not a huge fan of traditional German food there are plenty of other choices. My 100% German husband was happy about that LOL

Biergarten is also quite friendly for picky eaters or those with allergies (wheat/gluten) like my wife. Tons of choices, and everything I've had there over the years has been quite good. You also can't beat it for entertainment while dining. Hope you enjoy!
