1. For dinner, how often do they have a "show"? Is it continuous?

2. Since it is a buffet (I think that it is a buffet) does it interfere with others if you get up to get your food?

3. Is it fun?

4. Do kids like it?

5. Any reviews would be appreciated.

6. Is there a big difference between lunch and dinner?

thanks

I think the show is every hour. I think it was about 20 min. and started on the hour.

It didn't interfere with others to get up.

The show was more fun than eating the food...but I'm not big on German food. :)

We have eaten there a number of times and always have enjoyed it. It has been a while since we have done a lunch but I do believe they had the band there also.

The only unusual thing to be aware of is if you are a smaller group they will sit you with other people at big tables - apparently its the authentic German way of seating.

Hi Princess Vija...
you may remember me???;)(priecigus Janus) Hope you and your family are well.
In regards to Biergarten we had lunch there. My DF & I enjoyed it..my DS and Dh not so much. Mainly because they don't like saurekraut! There were plenty of other things for them to eat but that kind of set the mood for them.
I didn't think the food tasted very authentic German but perhaps that is how Americans do German food.
The show started a few minutes after we arrived and was still going when we left.Perhaps it was those huge steins of beer but it seemed to be a lot longer than 20mins. to me. Perhaps we ended up sitting through two shows. :rotfl:
I've read on other threads where some people didn't like sitting with strangers at there table but it didn't bother us. There were 6 of us down our end of the table and a group of 4 sat at the other end and other than saying hello we all kept to ourselves. When the music started playing you couldn't hear too far past you in any case.

Thanks everyone. I think DH would love this, I just now have to figure out if dinner or lunch would be better. We will be going during food and wine festival so not sure how to plan in this meal time.

Hi there!:wave2: Priecigus Janus to you too!:thumbsup2 Thanks, we are doing well, and I hope you and yours are doing well too!!

I thought that I would be bothered by sitting with other people, but it really isn't bad! We were from South Louisiana and the guy sitting with us worked for FEMA!:lmao: This was a couple of months after the hurricanes. It took him a while to admit that.

The buffet is in the back out of the way and the tables are spaced out to where you aren't on top of everyone. Its not spacious...but its not too close together.

We personally didn't like the food. I found it bland and my husband wasn't impressed. We are glad we tried it though. The experience is great!

Me and my husband ate there last October. We thought it was one of the best places we ate at and are planning on visiting again next year. The food was very very good! If you have a small party you will have to sit with strangers but the group we sat with were really fun! The band is very good too. It's a great place to go for dinner and I'm sure lunch is just as fun too!

we had a great time at this restaurant. We had enough people that we didn't have strangers at our table, but there is enough room to get up without disturbing others.

I think the show was every hour. We caught the end of it as we were walking in and saw a whole one before we left as the whole experience took about one hour.

Both our daughter (4 at the time) and niece (10) really enjoyed it. they danced, did the chants, etc.

Don't worry about the food. There is something for everyone... even the most picky eaters. When we go back this is on our list for sure.

1. For dinner, how often do they have a "show"? Is it continuous? I think it is every hour for a 15-20 minute show

2. Since it is a buffet (I think that it is a buffet) does it interfere with others if you get up to get your food? We try to sit at the very end of the table but we still have to push in or get up if other people cannot get by so yeah sometimes it can be a pain

3. Is it fun? Yes it is a blast

4. Do kids like it? We dont have kids but there are always a lot of kids dancing when the band plays

5. Any reviews would be appreciated. Tons of close up buffet pictures from our March/April trip in my signature

6. Is there a big difference between lunch and dinner? I think there are 2 or 3 items served at dinner that are not served at lunch but I forget what they are

A friend and I did Biergarten last year for dinner while the ladies were out shopping. We had a great time. Sat next to a family from Nebraska (we're from CT). Food was good (although I know my DW would not like it) and extremely filling. And the beers keep on coming.
I would think most kids would find it fun, although I have no first-hand experience to share (DD has not eaten there yet).

1. For dinner, how often do they have a "show"? Is it continuous?

When we ate dinner there in 2004, the show was on the hour and lasted for about 20 minutes.

2. Since it is a buffet (I think that it is a buffet) does it interfere with others if you get up to get your food?

The tables are not too close together, but depending on how far back you are in your table, and how far the people behind you are sitting from the table, there might be some chair-moving required.

3. Is it fun?

I think it is a fun restaurant, but just remember that it is not a character meal, so while you are still getting good entertainment, it will not have the same qualities as a character meal. :)

4. Do kids like it?

YES!!! They can get up and dance during the show, and love how unique the atmosphere is. Also, the food in the kids section is not limited to German. From what I can remember, there was mac & cheese, chicken tenders, and mini corn dogs.

5. Any reviews would be appreciated.

Sorry, I have not written a review for this restaurant.

6. Is there a big difference between lunch and dinner?

As I mentioned before, we ate dinner at Biergarten in 2004, and lunch in 2007. I thought the food and service were much better during dinner... and the restaurant is always more crowded for dinner, which makes the experience a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

Hope that helps!

1. For dinner, how often do they have a "show"? Is it continuous? It's not continuous, but it lasts a good while. Like pp, I believe it starts every hour, but I think it goes on for a good while longer than 15 minutes. I think the CM's at the check-in stand can tell you when they will play or there is a listing somewhere in the Germany Pavilion that tells what time they will play.

2. Since it is a buffet (I think that it is a buffet) does it interfere with others if you get up to get your food? There are always people getting up and down, and you really don't notice so much when the Ooompah band is playing!

3. Is it fun? It's the best! This is a MUST for us on every trip.

4. Do kids like it? We've gone with just our 2 kids, and then a group of 10 with 5 kids. They liked it as much as we did, and they got up and danced while the Ooompah band played. Our waitress actually encouraged them to go out there!

5. Any reviews would be appreciated. I grew up eating a lot of German foods (my dad is German), and there are a lot of dishes that totally remind me of my childhood. The food is great!

6. Is there a big difference between lunch and dinner? I'm pretty sure they don't serve the salmon at lunch, and one of the side dishes (I don't remember which), but otherwise the food's the same. We've done both lunch and dinner, but prefer lunch because it's cheaper and we like our heavy meals earlier in the day so we can walk them off! It's also nice to get out of the heat in the middle of the day.

ENJOY! :thumbsup2

Ticki Tacki, Ticki Tacki.... oi, oi , oi!! ;)

I just read Mickrynikkis food report that she referred to earlier in this post. Is is fabulous. I loved it. It made me very hungry though. LOL

Great thread..thanks for the info everyone who went there. Me and my DH are eating dinner there in Sept. We have 4pm dinner ressies for our Epcot day. It sounds like it will be a really fun break in the action:)

1. For dinner, how often do they have a "show"? Is it continuous?

The show is about once an hour and they play for about 25-30 minutes

2. Since it is a buffet (I think that it is a buffet) does it interfere with others if you get up to get your food?

No it doesn't interfere with others as the restaurant is tiered and you wont be blocking anybodies view when you get up

3. Is it fun?

Yes, very much

4. Do kids like it?

YES! My 3 year old was on the dance floor dancing the chicken dance, she had a great time

5. Any reviews would be appreciated.

I think the food is excellent. And to make it even better the food is a lot less "greasy" then at most German restaurants. The first time we went my wife was a bit nervous because the several German restaurants by our home serve everything pretty greasy and very heavy. The biergarten manages to keep the food tasting pretty authentic while keeping it a bit lighter. Also with that said be aware it is a bit Americanized but no less than most German restaurants you'll find in America

Also you may have to sit with people you don't know. Some people don't mind this others HATE it. If you have 5-6 people in you're party you will most likely sit with just yourselves but any less and you'll probably sit with people (most tables hold 8 some hold 6)

6. Is there a big difference between lunch and dinner?

Can't answer this as I've never been there for lunch. One thing for me is that between several trips to the buffet and drinks I'm usually quite full when I'm done, even just the thought of going on rides afterward is out of the question. So if you are a light eater you can do lunch there but at that point you might as well eat at the German counter service.
