We will have 5 kids ranging from 5-15 years and my husband and I and my parents. My parents enjoy German food. My dad was stationed in Germany when I was born and he loves the culture. My husband and I have eaten at Biergarten before and thought it was ok. None of us have been to Teppan Edo. I'm just not sure based on the kids if they'll enjoy Biergarten. What do you think?

Biergarten is quite fun for kids. Make sure you time it for a set from the band. The younger kids all go down and dance.

The older kids... I'd say it depends on the kids, but that's true of everything in the tween years.

Biergarten is fun for kids. (I'm tired of it, and would go to Teppan Edo instead without being asked twice, but you're not taking me!)(Are you taking me? I'll ride along. :))

I also agree that for the older kids, it depends on the kids: our last trip we had a sixteen year old and a fourteen year old who both like to pretend they're cynical and too cool and they were the first ones on the dance floor, so you never know! We were also a group of nine, and Biergarten in a big group is a blast.

Our younger ones do love the music and dancing at Biergarten - the food is pretty good for them as well...that said, with older ones I would choose Teppan Edo - it is a fun experience even if you've done hibachi before --food is good and not as loud as Biergarten.

Tables at Teppan Edo are for 8 around the grill. I have never seen them squeeze in additional folks
If this works for you I would choose Teppan Edo over Biergarden

We love Biergarten. It's a must do every trip. We have a hibachi place in town so we don't need that experience.

Agreed. I have seen a larger family split between two neighboring grills - so if you wouldn't mind splitting your party Teppan Edo would work - and would be my choice.

do they still sit you with others at Teppan Edo too? We LOVE LOVE LOVE Biergartens food, and have done OK sitting with others, but this last time was just such a bad situation that we cant try again. Too $$ to gamble your money on an experience like who you are sat with

Yes - if your party is less than 8 you will be seated with another party to fill the grill table. Ours is a family of four so we have always been grouped with others. Fortunately we have not had a bad experience in the many years we have been dining there.

thanks for that info! WE just cant spend money to chance it.... so we will pass on Teppan Edo and Biergarten from now on sadly. Been going yearly since 1997, food costs have gone soooo high that sometimes these "experiences" have too many iffs to gamble. Again Thanks a ton!!

My kids love biergarten but not so much teppan edo. Lots of things for picky eaters at biergarten like their delicious mac and cheese and desserts. Plus when cash is dear, it's super filling.

I would think many kids would like Teppan Edo. Mine do, they like to watch the chef cooking. It's right in front of you. A five year old could do fine, just depends on the kid, but in general it wasn't like it was a quiet, adults atmosphere, or anything like that, so no worries! My youngest was six at the time. We had a little bit of wait time last time there while we were seated and before the chef came over. And if a chef is called something else at Teppan Edo, I don't know the name for it. You are seated with others if your party is smaller as mentioned above. The bill was high for two adults and two kids, can't remember exactly the cost but definitely over $100. We were a party of four and seated with another party of four. We've never tried Biergarten, sounds fun.

I'd choose Biergarten over Teppan Edo, because it is different. We have a Japanese hibachi restaurant here at home. The food is the same at Teppan Edo, it just costs a lot more! Biergarten is FUN along with dinner. Even if you have a German restaurant near you, you more than likely don't have the whole German beer hall experience, complete with oomph-band and dancing! Also, although people worry about sitting with "strangers" at Biergarten, it's not bad at all. We have always found we have things in common with our table mates, and have enjoyed all our meals/experiences at Biergarten.

Our only "bad" table mate experience was at Teppan Edo. DD (I think she was 18 at the time) and I were seated with a family of 4 who probably should have done the afternoon nap thing (toddler slept in mom's lap, dad was short-tempered, 4 year old was cranky and threw food around) and a young couple who played tonsil-hockey throughout the meal. I wanted to tell them to get a room- and as we were all on the dining plan, I know that they had one nearby!

Ew! That is just wrong! I feel for the young family. Sometimes you just don't know how the kids are going to be and canceling adrs last minute can cost you! I think we are going for biergarten. There are nine of us so I don't think we will have to sit with strangers:D

Unless hibachi is a new experience for your family, I'd choose Biergarten. It's more unusual and unlike what you probably have at home. I like Teppan Edo. It's a decent hibachi spot. But it's not any better than the average Benihana or equivalent found in cities and towns around the country.

We just did Teppan Edo for the first time and loved it! We are a party of 3. We sat with two other parties and they were lovely. Our tween and then another 5 year old boy was at the table. The chef was outstanding and the servers incredibly polite and sweet. They completely spoiled my hubs for his bday there-so much more so than any other Disney restaurant! Food was outstanding and everyone, adults and kids, were entertained.

Biergarten vote here. We do it almost every time we're at Epcot. I've done Teppan Edo, but we have a local Hibachi restaurant that is wonderful and no great German restaurant. The variety on the buffet caters to everyone whatever their comfort zone and the theming is great.

Actually, come to think, aren't most of the tables at Biergarten 8-tops? Do they have larger? If they're all 8s, family may get split there too.

At Teppan Edo though, youre not facing any of your table mates. You're all surrounding the grill looking at the Chef. So there shouldn't be any awkwardness.

The kids would love Teppan Edo. Its fun. But Biergarten is good too. The buffet is good, the band is entertaining and the environment is really fun. Your whole family will love it.

Apparently they DO have tables that seat 10 people. So the OP will be fine. :)
