Biergarten or not?

Hi all,

We'll be celebrating our 15th at the World in just under a week. One of the dinners we have PS at is for the Biergarten at Epcot. Our friends (who are vacationing with us and also celebrating 15 years of marriage) really want to experience the food in Germany, so we've made a PS at Biergarten. We have also discussed the "eating/drinking" around World Showcase with them.

I haven't seen any recent reviews on Biergarten? Can anyone tell me how their experience was? Should we just grab a bratwurst on the go or is the show worth it?

Thanks - 6 days and counting!!!!

I must say the majority of reviews I have read about this restaurant have been very good. We ate there in Dec. (with DH the pickiest eater on earth) and really enjoyed it! We're actually doing this again in June with his whole family. First thing to know is it is the seating arrangement where you will be put at a table with people you don't know if there are open seats. Since we were a party of 2, we had a family of 4 at the other end of our table. They have a neat show with an Oompah Band. The atmosphere is very festive and happy, but it is really really awesome to look at! It looks like you are outside in the middle of a little village at night...there is a moon shining, and lovely little buildings around with a watermill...very cool. The food is a buffet and they have the traditional German food, but also things that everyone would like. There are various salads and breads, chicken, potatoes, etc. The food was good....the desserts were great too. They have a vanilla sauce on the dessert buffet that we just put on all the desserts...made it all better!!! Hope this helps a little.

We went while in Epcot last year and had a great time. There were 10 of us so we had a rather long table all to ourselves. The food was buffet and was great as they had so much to choose from. We had 2 small picky eaters that probably didn't get their money's worth, but everyone else did. The wait staff was great (from Germany on internship). All in all we would recommend this restaurant. The show was ok and everyone had a fun time.

Thanks for the replies, so far. I'm starting to feel better about this. We were eating at Marrakesh for NYE 2004 and peeked into the the Biergarten on the way to our dinner. It did look like people were having a good time. I guess I'm worried about the food. I like bratwurst, but wasnt' sure the whole food/show experience would be with it.

Thanks so much for the replies so far.

We usually dine there for lunch as opposed to dinner. The last time that we went was last August. It is a buffet - no sit down. The food has always been very good and the show nice as well. Enjoy!

We always eat here and enjoy it every time. If you can get a table closer to the stage I think you will enjoy it more. I've never requested one but I always seem to like it more when I sit down there rather than up around the top.

We were just at the Biergarden during the last week in April and, as always. we had a great meal and wonderful entertainment. We always try to squeeze in a visit to the Biergarden during our WDW visits.

Don't leave without trying the Apple Strudel with the vanilla sauce!

We always enjoy our meals here! Sometimes we have done a very late lunch, and although paying the lunch price, were able to view the dinner time entertainment. Very enjoyable!

We ate at the Biergarten for lunch this past December.. we were able to get in with only a 5 min wait W/OUT a PS! Awesome. Anyway, we had good timing and were able to take in the show (which was great). Our server was wonderful, and the food was amazing. I highly recommend it!

This is a can't miss on our trips. The food is great and the entertainment fun! My husband was deployed in Iraq for 16 months and we had many conversations about the great food and how he couldn't wait to go back when he came home! So the food must be good!

Guess I'll be the voice of dissent here. We used to like the place but since it went to buffet, we stopped going. The entertainment is fun and the food is fine, but it isn't the same as it used to be for us. Although I do LOVE the humongous beer you can order, Joe isn't a drinker so it would be just me having a drink the size of a small child. That aint so much fun. LOL!

This is my least favorite restaurant in all of Disney World. I didn't care for the food at all. Many in my group that night felt the same way.
