Biergarten or Akershus?

My boyfriend (23) and I (34) are having lunch at Epcot on December 28 and I cannot decide which restaurant to go to. We are on the dining plan. He is a WDW first timer and I have been there once. We will be going to Medieval Times for dinner. I like the menu better at Akershus and the menu at Biergarten looks similar to what we may be eating for dinner at MT. So, what about the atmosphere? I don't mind all the kids at the character meals. I am just looking for which is the better food/entertainment experience between the two.

Biergarten. Good food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. For the two of you, I would think this would be much calmer setting.

Biergarten is my favorite Epcot TS and possibly my favorite WDW TS, although thats a tough call to make. I wouldn't miss it.....Biergarten gets my vote.

Bearing in mind that it has been almost 15 years since I have been to Medival Times, I don’t think you’d run into thinking the Biergarten was too similar to enjoy both. I love the Biergarten – great atmosphere inside, very relaxing setting, but fun with the live band at the same time. And the food is great, as well. I’ve been to Akershus once about 5 years ago and it was ok, but very fishy – which is great if everyone likes fish (I do, but my wife doesn’t). I remember Akershus being noisier, busier than the Biergarten on the whole. Maybe I’m just biased because I love most German foods.

Thank you all so much! My 90 + 10 mark is in 7 days, so I am trying to put the finishing touches on the itinerary. I am very grateful that you shared your experiences!

I fourth Biergarten! We love that place. We also went to Medieveal times a few years ago and from what I remember, we were served cornish game hen (or maybe it was just chicken!) bread, corn on the cob and that is all I can remember.....The food at Biergarten is nothing like that. It is authenic and yummy German food. My Dh and I went before kids and had a blast listening to the band and the dancing. We met some neat folks at our table (you sit at a long table and there is I think 8 places) and drank alot of beer! We plan on going back again next year. I don't think you will be disappointed. Oh, BTW, I hate Akershus, but then I hate anything fish.

I vote for Biergarten as well. We go there very trip. A week from tomorrow as a matter of fact, we will be dining there again! Yummy. And great entertainment from the OOmpah Band. We greatly enjoyed our meal at Akershus last year (had a great chicken dish, but it is no longer on the menu), but we will not be returning. I am not for dining with the princesses at all. Plus, I think it takes away from it being a world showcase restaurant to have the princesses there. But that is just my opinion.
