Biergarten Lunch or Dinner?

My group would like to try Biergarten on our upcoming vacation. I've noticed there is difference in pricing in the lunch price vs dinner price. Is there any reason that we would want to pay more for dinner.....is there a show at dinner or more options on the dinner menu???

1) There is entertainment at both lunch and dinner.
2) However, the dinner "shows" seem longer with more audience participation.
3) Great for adults AND KIDDIES.
4) Show Times are daily at 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:45, 5:55, 7:00, 8:05pm.

I love doing the Biergarten for lunch! The buffet items are slightly reduced from dinner, but not by much. I believe the carving station isn't open; mainly there are a few less major meat items available. But there are still a TON of different items-- it's almost all of the dinner items. I've found that going for lunch is a great way to get the atmosphere and entertainment, with almost the same exact food, but at a lower price than dinner.

We go at least once or twice a year, always at lunch. No way I'm paying the dinner price for a few extra items. The carving station is open at lunch time, in May it was pork and a meatloaf. Show happens at lunch and it is always fun. I could just eat my fill of desserts but there is lots of yummy food.

Fabulous pics! We went in June for lunch for the cheaper price. They definitely do have carving station and plenty of options. Not sure what is missing from dinner. The shows lasted right at 30 mins. We will definitely do it again for lunch

This is our only "must do" and always for lunch. My dd had a minor in German in college so I insist she speak only German when we are there. LOL

We have dinner reservations on our first night - very excited after looking at the pictures!

We do lunch now as well and we have done dinners (with larger groups who have an aversions to big lunches) and I honestly cannot tell the difference between the two meals. I definitely see the similarities - I'm always ready to roll out at the end of the meal and I can't finish one of the bigger beers at the meal. HOWEVER - that's not a problem and not many people know this. My husband did a cost comparison at our last lunch there and the big beers are a bargain compared to the other beers around World Showcase (and we only drink Bud Light around World Showcase). So, get the big beer and if you can't finish it, just ask for a To Go cup and one will gladly be provided. One of those beers will last me right up to Illuminations.

Lunch...pretty much the same food for a lot less.... Food is always good there

We have eaten at both and have not seen any difference as far as what is offered. Even the entertainment is the same, however like the PP said, there is more audience participation during the dinner performances then the lunch performances. If you want to save a few dollars per person, then I would book a lunch there, but try to book one about 15 minutes before the entertainment starts so you can get seated and have at least one plate of food in front of you before it starts :goodvibes.

I have a lunch reservation at 3pm. Dinner starts at 4. Do I need to finish my meal before dinner time starts?

I've done late lunches there, and they definitely do not kick you out or otherwise make any issue about it when they switch over to dinner. It just happens, and not much changes anyway; the buffet service is continuous. You'll probably be too full by then to eat anything else, but you'll get to see/try the items they add for the dinner service.

Speaking of which, thanks to various people for the correction regarding the carving station being indeed available at both lunch and dinner. Anyone remember what exactly is the difference in buffet items? I still remember it being something different with the carving station. Additional meats?

Nope, the meal you booked is the meal you pay for. They seat continuously. You can relax and enjoy the meal and not worry about time constraints.

Dinner has sauerbraten and beef rouladen, lunch doesn't usually. Some people have reported those items being there at lunch occasionally.

Also, since May, there has also been a 12:30 show daily, in addition to the times Rusty posted. Not sure how long that will remain.

No - one of the "hidden" benefits is that your lunch bill with be lunch prices. You might end up with dinner food but at the Biergarten that means maybe two extra meat dishes on the buffet. There won't be anyone going around and checking that people who entered during lunch times are only eating lunch foods. No one at any time at any Disney restaurant, that I know of, has ever been told "stop eating now!" :)

Ooh, thanks for this suggestion (the to-go cup)! I hadn't thought of lunch here, but just changed from an early dinner at Garden Grill to a late lunch at Biergarten. Woohoo!

Thanks for those photos, HopperFan. You've convinced me to make my ADR, even though I'm not sure about the communal seating (I'm hoping not to be sandwiched between two families).

Yes, there are a few additional menu items available at dinner than lunch, but not that many. I think beef roulade (sp??) is one of them, but I'm not 100% positive.

The communal seating is no big deal. Most families will keep to themselves although "hellos" will more than likely be exchanged and maybe a "where are you from?" and/or "have you been here before?" and/or "how many times have you been to Disney World?"

The only time we ever had a problem with the seating was when my husband and I were there and the table consisted of us (seated side by side), two older ladies sitting across from each other, and a couple next to them seated across from each other. A single guy was then seated across from my husband and I at the end. The couple in between us at the end and the two older ladies did not speak to even each other. They sneered when our beers came and immediately went up for their food, came back, ate quickly but didn't finish, then got up and left. They said not one word the entire time. They didn't even have their bill. But, they were gone in less than twenty minutes. After they left, my husband and I and the single guy (we had been talking the entire time), moved down next to the two older ladies and all five of us talked for so long and so much that we realized if we didn't leave right then, we'd miss Illuminations! We spent a good hour to an hour and a half with those wonderful people after the other couple left.
