My DH is a meat and potatoes. As long as there is steak or shrimp on the menu, he's happy. However, I wanted to try Biergarten for the first time when we go in September. Will he like anything on the menu? We are thinking of going for lunch. I saw pot roast and rotisserie chicken (he's not a fan of chicken but will eat it), mac n cheese. He likes hot dogs. My DS will probably just have bread and mac n cheese. He's 3 so I think it would be fun for him with the music (trying for a 12:45 ADR when the time comes). Opinions?

Worse case scenario, DH can drink beer and then get a snack somewhere else :rotfl:

Thanks

He should be happy. There is a carving station IIRC. There are also tons of sausage options. There are meat stews - definitely sauerbraten. I'd say that it's a meat heavy selection. As for sides, there was German Potato Salad. If he likes soup, the potato and leek soup is very good. I think there were other potato things as well.

There are frankfurters (hot dogs) and other sausages too...
The carving station mentioned by the prior poster is a dinner-only thing, but yes it is there.

You can't get much more meat-and-potatoes than the Biergarten, although the meat is not steak and the potatoes are not plain mashed ones.

That being said, I've not yet had any male in any of my travel parties, regardless of their dining preferences, be unhappy there. Beer flights can alleviate many issues... ;)

You wouldn't think so, but you can find something for just about anyone there. My son and I love German food, and can pretty much eat our weight in sausages and sauerkraut. My husband isn't that crazy about those things, but he found plenty to eat (although, he would tell me to warn you about the pickled herring. That wasn't the greatest move on his part.)

I don't care for German food (except desserts:goodvibes), but DH loves it. I can find things to eat there, not my favorite meal but I do it for him.

As a PP said, just about anyone can find enough on the buffet to make them, at very least, content with their meal. What seems to be the bigger issue with Biergarten is if your party is the type that can sit with total strangers and still enjoy the meal or if your party is the type that would hate sitting with people you don't know. The way your party can handle that situation as well as the way those you sit with can handle it, may alter your Biergarten experience.

Biergarten was great! We went last winter with a group of 10. The only person who couldn't find something they liked was the 10 year old who was throwing a hissy fit about not being able to go to the taco stand in Mexico  My 3 year old was in second heaven, and loved everything he had. There are plenty of meat and potato options.

I think he will be fine. Your DH might even really like it. At 3, my DD was horribly picky and she ate more at Biergarten than I think I have ever seen her eat at any meal, it was almost all from the adult selections too. I think your son will love the show and being able to get out on the dance floor. DD ranks it right up their with Princess meals and my friends 3 year old son absolutely loved it too.
