I've never been to Biergarten but have read good things about it on DIS. I'd be interested in your experiences, feedback etc. We're thinking of going there in May but are a bit unsure whether we'll like it.

thanks in advance.

DH and I loved it. It is buffet style, and depending on the size of your group you may be seated with another family. (DH is incredibly shy, and he was totally ok with this, don't let it deter you) The food was excellent, I particularly loved the leek soup, and apple strudel, and all you can eat pretzel bread!! Entertainment was great, and not disruptive to your meal. We don't have children, but it looked like the family at our table's children were having a blast. There's an area in front of the entertainment stage for them to dance (and of course, adults were dancing away too!) It is an indoor restaurant, although it is made to look like you are outdoors in some sort of German village (it looks beautiful) DH is German, his grandmother and mother both from Germany, and i know he enjoyed this so much.
We went in October '07, and it is a must for our upcoming trip in December '08 Hope this helps, and hope you have a wonderful time!!

I am thinking about this one, also. I saw roasted chicken on the menu, so I know picky DS will have something to eat. DH and I would love the saurebrauten, and DD can usually find something at any kind of buffet.

The thing that keeps stopping me, is the seating. Since it's four of us, I'm sure we'll be seated with others. I read on another post, a family got seated with a family with screaming kids, and another family got seated with a family who did nothing but bash Disney. DH would not like this. He's still recovering from a similar meal we had where the family that sat with us had a baby that threw food at us, and the parents did nothing to stop him.

But ramfaerie makes it sound so nice, maybe we'll go for it!

I lived in Germany for a few years, and like a lot of places in Europe, this is the tradition. It is pretty diconserting the first time complete strangers sit down with you for dinner. The difference is, they don't feel obligated to talk to you there!

besides the roasted chicken for your kiddos......they also had macaroni and cheese in the middle aisle.......breads and a few of the sausage looking things were really hotdogs only BIG....so anyone with a picky eater should be okey....we loved the variety of foods they had.....and the potato leek soup was SOOOOOOOO good....hope you give it a try.

We went here for our first 2 trips and loved it each time. As a family of 4 there was always plenty of seating and we never sat with another family. The buffet has a wide variety and all 4 of us were stuffed when we left. And yummy! I definately recommend it.

Thanks! You've been so helpful. I'm going to call right now and get a reservation. :goodvibes

It's just DH and I and we greatly dislike having to share a table with others to eat a meal. We're not big talkers and prefer to keep to ourselves whenever possible. However, the thought of the tasty food keeps us coming back. My parents took DH and I to Biergarten 2-3 years ago and it was his first time going to a place like that. He's been hooked on the food ever since. I had to learn to cook schnitzel just to satisfy his cravings. :rotfl:

Heck. I like the chicken too and I'm in my 60s. I love this place and not just for the beer. The food is very good and the atmosphere is great. One of my all time favorite places to eat in Epcot!

We love, love, LOVED the Biergarten! It's the only buffet we're returning to! I know I keep pointing everyone this way (but I'm lazy ) but I have a full review in my Dining Report - link in my signature.

The potato and leek soup as someone mentioned is awesome, pretzel bread, tomato salad (and I don't like salad!), sausages, jaggerschnitzel.... not to mention the Bavarian cheesecake and apple strudel with vanilla sauce.... just wonderful!!

I'd sit next to Charles Manson!

Thanks everyone - I'm going to add Biergarten to my list of ADRs. We've eaten at most of the other TS's at Epcot, and I always feel like we should do this place to make a true trip around the countries.

Haven't done LeCellier yet either, but I'm going to wait until it totally tanks due to overuse, and then when everyone stops going there, and it has a chance to bounce back, I'll go. That's what we've done with a few other heavy hitters here on the dis (think Coral Reef).

We love it there and will be returning in May. Last time we went, we were seated at a table for 8, 3 different families. The family of 4 ignored us, lol, but the couple seated across from us was lovely and we had a really nice dinner and conversation. It is luck of the draw, but it's fun for us and hopefully we'll be seated with more nice families this time.

We'll be there in May too - by your signature looks like you'll be there the exact same time as us. Based on all the replies here I'm definitely making reservations. Who knows, maybe we'll end up at the same table :goodvibes

I'll have my LGMH on so keep your eyes peeled! We're either going to be there the 12th or the 13th. I can't remember, my ADR's are at home, but I know it's definitely one of those days (I'm really thinking the 13th though) at 5:45pm!

The Biergarten is awesome and we eat there at least once every trip. If you don't like German food, I'd say bypass it, but the atmosphere is great! The house band is very entertaining! We've met many people eating there and even wound up meeting up with a few later in the trip. The food is very good, very authentic and for the amount of food, it's worth the price!

ohhhhh
i hope we get fun people at our table (we try to talk to everybody ~ Dh even shared his appy with the couple at the next table at one restaurant :rolleyes1).
it'll be just DH & myself ~ how many ppl are at a table? has anyone noticed if they seat couples with other couples, etc, or is it just a big mix?
tyia

My DH lived in Germany in the early 80s when he was in the Army so The Biergarten was the only place he really cared about going to our whole trip :rotfl: My family is german so I was looking forward to the saurkraut and pork.

We got a reservation around 4:15 I think (make a reservation before you go!!). We got a good table and funny thing, we are from Maryland and they sat another couple with their 2 kids at our table and turns out they live in Maryland too - 15 minutes from us!

My daughter didn't eat a thing. Not because the food wasn't good or anything, but because as soon as we got there the band took the stage and she was dancing the whole time we were there. Here's a link to a video of her dancing while we were there. ... http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v335/sarahsmommy92303/?action=view&current=Jan112008-VID00035.flv

We loved the Biergarten...DH is AF, we were in Germany in the 80s, so always looking to replicate the experience ! The food was wonderful, not guesthouse wonderful, but we didn't expect that ! Very good though, and we were at a table w/ visitors from the United Kingdom, ex-military, so the conversation was comfortable and fun. DS is autistic, he loved the music, and the sausages, and the commotion. We will go again.
