Biergarten...bad experience...should we give it another shot?

We gave it a try but found the experience very hit or miss. It could be good with the right table mates but it could be anything from barerly ok to down right awful if we got not so good ones like others experienced. Since it was unpredictable we gave up and went now go to the traditional ones where we know it will be a pleasant evening. I really think the seating arrangements at the Biergarten need to be re-thought to be more traditional single party tables.

But then it wouldn't be a traditional Biergarten type of atmosphere.

Sadly, some people will always be rude and you can't change that.

Well...depending on my mood I'd either let a few comments fly back at the rude people or I'd ask a manager to re-seat me even if it means waiting a little. And I am pretty go with the flow.

If you liked the food, go try it again. We have always enjoyed the place, but never have come close to the experience you had with other guests.

That's me, too. I would have asked to move.

I think you should give it another shot. We ate there the last week in October and had a great time. We sat at a table with a family of the mother and father and either 3 or 4 kids. We didn't really talk to them but had no problems and the food and beer were awesome! You have to remember, family style seating like that is how they do it at Oktoberfest in Germany, so if they did regular seating, it wouldn't be the same. The EPCOT pavilions are supposed to give you a feel for the country with it's traditions. We are on vacation, we just roll with whatever happens, the family style seating doesn't bother us.

If you think you'll like the food, you should give it another try. Odds are you won't get a party that bad again. Personally, I thought the food was at the bottom of the totem pole in Epcot. We didn't have the mega beers to make everything taste better. If it's up to me, we won't return. Before we went, I was mostly concerned about having table mates. That ended up not being a problem. We were a party of 4 seated with a party of 2. There were seats in between. Both parties were fine with having private meals, so it worked out good. It wasn't really like we were seated with anyone. The seating wouldn't keep me from returning, but the food would.

Although Biergarten isn't our favorite place, in your situation I wouldn't judge it by one visit. Any restaurant/chef/server can have an "off" night and its best to actually try a couple of times before writing off a place.

at least 25 times and never had such an experience to give it another try!

I've had people who weren'y greta conversationalists but that is expected. My wife and I usually stimulate the conversation to get things going!

A couple of years ago, we went to the Biergarten late in the summer, after spending the early portion of the season in Bavaria where we (ahem) spent a lot of time in beer gardens. DD (now 12) feels like she grew up there -- they conveniently place the playgrounds close to the tables!

We enjoy Disney's version, and have had mixed experiences at the restaurant. (In fact, DD just looked over my shoulder and said, "Are you mentioning the last time we were there with the party poopers?")

You'll get a mix, there's no question. Some people are great, friendly and chatty; others aren't prepared for the fact they are seated with others and are uncomfortable. It's just the mix of humankind. Some folks will happily join in the fun; others are more reserved.

Doesn't stop us from going. This coming holiday season we're surprising DSIL and DBIL with a meal there -- and if you're at our table, you can be sure we'll make you welcome!! Ein prosit!

Awww.... that makes me glad that there are people like you that will help make others' experience positive!! :goodvibes

My family of 3 are going for the first time next year so I know that we will be seated with other parties. I'm looking forward to it since I'm definitely the "hi, how are you, where are you from, are you enjoying your visit" kind of gal!

I say go again. The food is really good. Stinks that you got stuck with a bunch of cruds. I think they have smaller tables, maybe 4 seaters so you could possibly request that when checking in. Dont allow these people to ruin your exp. because Biergarten can be lots of fun.

Go again, the food is good, the entertainment is enjoyable, and the atmosphere is unique. That bad experience was about a small set of people, definitely worth trying it again!
