Is there anyone familiar with the auction site Bidsauce? I always get the emails from Mypoints about joining and tonight I took the plunge and purchased a package of 50 bids for $29.95 and I will get 1000 points with MyPoints. I wish I had researched the auction site more because I am not getting how one can win one of those auctions. It seems impossible if others are interested and bidding also.

Has anyone had a positive experience with this site? If so, what is the key to winning an auction?

Thanks for any help/info.

Sites like that play in the grey area between legit and scam. They are legit because people actually can win stuff. The way they make money is through selling bid packages like the one you bought. So that $3 laptop you pay to bid on has so many other people paying to bid on it that they easily make up the cost. Someone will get it but it's more like winning a lottery than an auction.

Penny auction sites fall in the same category as those banners advertising some expensive item for only completing a few offers. The offers start out with something free and easy to get you going, then a few low-cost tasks until you finally have to do something so expensive that it would be cheaper to buy it from a store. The company makes their money off of the low-cost things you pay for and they would gladly give you the expensive item if you are stupid enough to pay for it by completing all of the offers. That's how they stay out of jail.

Another Penney Auction site.

Don't bother. They often have automated bidding software bidding against you, the whole idea is to get you to buy bids and use them and never win.

They do let some gift cards go, often bids for more bids they'll let you win of course, but it's been compared to gambling addictions.

Not sure why these companies haven't been shut down yet...

Thanks for the info. So it was a $29.95 lesson learned about bidsauce.com
Perhaps it was naive of me, but I figured if MyPoints was promoting it, it must be legit. I used up my 50 bids for $29.95 in no time. There really is no way to actually win because each time you are high bidder, the clock resets and allows more bids. Some one can always bid higher who has purchased a lot of bids. The whole idea of the site makes no sense. Again, lesson learned.
