Have you given any thought about renting DVC points from a DVC member? The points run about $10.00 per point and in December a studio at OKW would be 8pts costing $80.00. It's a great resort and comes with a wetbar including microwave and fridge. You can click on the Rent/Trade board on the Dis home page. Good Luck!

That is definitely a difficult choice. My wife and I find the amenities of the Contemporary so attractive that it is quite difficult to accept something less - even if the cost is half what we'd pay.

It does seem like a no-brainer to take two trips, but we just stayed at the Contemporary and LOVED it! It was so nice to be able to walk to MK and monorail over to Epcot. The rooms were HUGE, too! We do find that by staying at a deluxe, we get quite a bit done in fewer days because we don't spend so much time on transportation. We usually only go for 4 or 5 days. We also save a little bit of money because we aren't buying meals for a full week.

I haven't stayed at Pop but am considering staying there or POR for our next trip. I am concerned about the bus transportation during busy times. When is the first trip going to take place? Where would you stay in December? Do you have an AP? Could you split your stay with a value and Contemporary for one of your trips? I know I'm asking too many questions-- I guess I just "think" too much;).

Both sound like a good idea, but I think I would choose a moderate (specifically PO-FQ) and split the difference.

It's always just DH and I on Disney trips... we do about the same as you... spend almost all day at parks (except for sleeping, showering) and nights at DTD and hardly use the pool. We've stayed at a moderate in the past, and tried ASMo last trip and found the value worked better for us. It's in the park and has all we would use there and affords us more money for spending in the parks and on us. This trip we are trying POP and are VERY excited about it!

If you were planning on spending more resort time, then I'd suggest a CR or a split trip, but why spend the extra money on a resort you're hardly going to be at? :confused3

So my vote is POP and 2 trips would be AWESOME!!

not only would i stay at pop (and i am! LOL!) but i would buy a 10 day premium no expiry myw ticket from undercovertourist.com for $362 and use it for both trips! :flower:

I think the Contemporary is still a neat hotel and would like to stay there some day, but I have to go with the two trips! Have fun, let us know what you decide! :goodvibes

since you don't use the hotel amenities, and you aren't traveling with children, i would vote for pop. especially if it means a 2nd trip!! have a GREAT time!!!

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm buying an Annual Pass (we don't do the water parks or PI). That way I can get two 7 night trips in before the year is out. And, if luck prevails, I can go a third time early next year before the passes expire.

So, I think we have decide to do the POP and then a deluxe just before the holidays in December.

Thanks for the advice! :wave2:

because I didn't want to choose either of your choices. My first reaction was to choose the Contemporary. We're a couple w/o kids and quite frankly we stayed at a value resort (All Star Music) twice...long time ago and we won't do it again. We prefer a more laid back, less garish looking, more adult feel to our resort. No matter what the price.

So I almost voted CR. Then, I thought about it and you said you rarely use the amenities and stay in the parks all day. So, I have an alternative suggestion. Try a moderate resort. We like CSR the best, but we also like CBR. Haven't tried PO. You'll save some $$ from the deluxe category, and you won't be in such a wild and crazy, screaming kids all over the place, tacky-looking, bad beds, tiny room resort like the value resorts. Now, that sounds harsh I know....but it's just my humble opinion. I have a friend who loves POP and All Star. She and her fiance go and they tour the parks commando style as well. However, they stayed at the Swan once and they definitely saw the difference.

We have no kids but want to see WDW at Christmas. TWO TRIPS ARE BETTER THAN ONE! Go value!

I would definately go with Pop if it means you can make another trip later in the year.

If you can definitely go again in December, stay at Pop. It there's a chance that the December trip won't happen, go with CR.

WOW...That's an $800 difference. If you truly don't use the resorts amenities, POP is probably the place to go. If it were me, however, I'd try to split the difference and stay at CSR.
The angry beaver is in the elevator at the Wilderness Lodge..............actually I've never seen a real one there but have seen lots of other wildlife........
