As much as I said I would NOT get another dog after our little Rocky died early this past summer, I'm starting to have second thoughts..

My DH just seems SOOOO lonely and sad without his little "buddy"..

I'd like to get a small dog and I saw a photo of this mix and it was adorable! The article said they have a VERY good temperment, are good with children, can easily adapt to even the smallest surroundings, and are extremely intelligent..

I don't know anyone who's ever had one though so I thought I'd check here.. Where else, right???;)

I've never heard of them, but there are all kinds of mixes out there. Is there a humane society in your area?

Well i have not heard of that breed but here is a picture of my new little Shih Tzu. Shes now nine weeks old. I got her from Oklahoma.

She is the best dog, I have to girls ages 3 and 11 and the puppy just loves them both. at night she curls up in the chair and watches tv with me. I dont think I would ever get a different breed.

Now combine autochick's puppy with my puppy, and I guess you'd have a Bich-Tzu! :p

Oh, Bichons are sensitive little furballs. They demand lots of attention. They are great with kids and are pretty sturdy little dogs. They do, however, require lots of grooming.

As in "Shi Tzon" everything? 'Cause if that's the case, I think I need to rename my Bichon's breed to that.
:rotfl:

Remember the movie "Dumb and Dumber"? What do you get when you mate a Bull Dog with a Shi Tzu?

These are a great breed and can be everything that you have heard that they are. They can get very attached to their owners and can be trouble to leave. My in laws have one and have to have her babysat with someone who comes to the house and lives while they are away on trips. They are smart and loving. It is a good choice. Be advised that they have to be groomed and some people feel that this is a pain.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but with a "mutt" breeding there is no way to predict what the temperament or hereditary health will be. One of the reasons for breeding PUREBRED is to have some predictabilty for those things. When you do a cross breeding, you take away at least 50% of that predictability. There are some health concerns in both of those breeds. I would only recommend buying from a reuptible breeder because of that. If you have someone purposely breeding "mutts", I can guarantee they are not looking at genetics! Sorry to sound harsh, but it is the truth.
