bic lighters on plane

I heard that you can carry a bic lighter through security then onboard the plane now. Has anyone heard of this/ done this recently? Last time we flew (2007) all that was allowed was safety matches.

Acording to the TSA website, lighters except butane type with the pinpoint flame are ok to carry on the plane. My DW went to MA this week and carried her disposable BIC lighter with her with no problems.

DH and I did last March. I had one in my pocket and one in my purse and he had on in his pocket. The pocket ones we laid in the box, just like all the other stuff. I didn't take the one out of my purse, and no one said anything.
