I am taking my 3 yr old for her 1st princess experience in august. We have an appointment for her hair, makeup, and nails, but I'm wondering what to do about a costume. How much do the costumes in the boutique cost and are they worth it. I saw a beautiful Cinderella costume in the Disneystore and want to know if I will find anything for $40 that is as beautiful. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

Costumes at the boutique are around 80 dollars (don’t forget wand shoes tiara all extra)...you can bring a quality costume from home and save lots....no matter what you choose your little princess will love it....

I beieve the package at the BBB for the costume is like $175.00 but it includes the accessories also. We are just bringing our own dress for her to wear while she gets her hair, nails and make~up done;) The dresses there are VERY expensive. They are great quality, but I don't believe you will find any for around $40.00.

The other posters have more info on $ than I do, but I wanted to add that my pretty observant DD (4 years old) didn't notice the difference between wearing her costume from home that I got at Target for $20 and the kids who did get dresses while they were at BBB. So, if you are worried about your DD feeling somehow left out - don't! They are so excited and busy with their makeover that I don't think it will register that other kids are getting a costume there.

Have a great time! And save the $ to spend somewhere else!

princess: I agree with sara74. Save the money. The ones at Target are nice. I even saw one at my Walmart today in the toy section. I would buy one and take it. You can still get pics done at World of Memories. Don't spend too much money on the dress. JMHO. Have fun. princess:

I just booked my DD BBB appt. today. I was told the Castle Package is $175 and includes the costume of her choice, complete with tiara, shoes, wand, hair, make-up and nails. Oh yes, and a photo imaging session.. whatever that means. I'm afraid to tell DH.... :faint:
Well, it was either BBB or Perfectly Princess Tea at the GF....

My DD6 and DD3 were there last week and they loved it. My daughters did not buy costumes, but watching what was going on I agree that the costumes at Target and Walmart looked the same at a lot less $$. The packages are $35, $45, and $175. Many of the girls wore their costumes in and got the $45 package that my daughters got which include hair, nails, make-up, a Disney photographer takes pictures throughout the process so have your photopass, and then they will give her a sash, and a take-home package of the make-up, brush and other items. Depending on what your daughter chooses, some of the hair styles include hair extensions or tiaras. Your kids will love it, but bring your costume.

My daughters has all the princess dresses from walmart and target. They wear them for about 10 minutes and take them off. They are extremely itchy....so the girls say. My oldest has a Belle dress from Disney Store two years ago that she wears all the time....no itchies. It will not make the trip this year b/c she has worn it out. I did however buy two princess dresss from Lillian Vernon yesterday to take. They look great and were about 45.00 each. Hopefully we will not have the itchies.

I was all set to splurge and buy my girls the princess costumes when we got there and then keep them for Halloween. But when we got there, I just couldn't go through with it!!! Compared to the ones that I normally get at the Disney Store (which are expensive themselves), the ones at BBB were just too much for me to go in for. So they ended up just doing it with the Tinkerbelle shirts and skirts that they were already wearing and totally loved it!

Let me know how the Lillian Vernon dresses work out! They look great and I want to pick up most of our costumes before the trip to save some $$$ (though admittidly I did book the 175$ package at BBB for her, I am such a sucker!)
Also, I saw Cindy and SB, do you know if they have Belle? or SW?

I've bought my DD several of the dresses from Walmart and Target. She loves them. :lovestruc I usually have her wear an undershirt (tank) under them when it's warm and a turtleneck when it's cold. She has sensitive skin, like me, and this takes care of it. When I bought her the Aurora dress, I added some additional gold trim to the bottom and it came out great! :cloud9:

I'm thinking of possible doing BBB in Sept, and if we do, it'll be one of the less expensive packages, with her own dress.

I was just at BJ's today, and I saw that they had the Disney Princess Prestige dresses on sale for $29.99 in sizes 4-6X and 7-8. They had Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. The dresses are gorgeous and definitely floor length - they looked huge to me!

We did the whole package in April but will be bringing our own costume this time in August. My DD loved it and the costumes there are a good quality as are all of the ones that I have bought in Disney World. They do seem to be a little better quality than the ones that we have from other stores but unless you were actually looking for it you wouldn't know the difference, they just hold up better. She simply adored all of the attention and loves to be a princess for the day. princess:

I don't have any personal experience with this company, but have heard others sing its praises. The dresses are reasonably priced and by all reports are not "itchy". They look great. See what you think.

I tried to post a link, but apparently I haven't been around here long enough to do that. Anyway, if you google "little dress up shop" you will find it.

EDIT: I should have scrolled down a little farther. There is a whole thread about these dresses a little way down the board.

WE bought Princess and The Pauper Dresses from this company for birthday last year. They are not itchy by any means but are also pretty plain. My little girl loves to wear them though so that is a ll that matters.

Disney store at our local mall was selling their princess costumes (yellow and blue ones) for $19.99 couple of weeks ago. They might still have more. They are usually better made than the ones from Target or Walmart. If you have a Disney store close to your house, you might be able to find some.

Well the Lillian Vernon dresses came in today. They are wonderful. No Tulle even though that is what it says in description. It is lined with a very thick paper type material......I don't sew at all so I am really not sure what it is called. But it is so thick that it makes the skirts stand out. She has been wearing them for quite a while now and so far no "itchies". So that makes the $45 price tag a little easier to swallow!!!

Check Ebay too. I just got my little girl an Ariel costume. By the way, what is World of Memories? Where is it, what do you do, etc. Thanks!
