Bibbidi Bobbidi for BOYS?

I have b/g twins, so this comes up a lot. We were watching the planning DVD in preparation for our upcoming trip (FIVE! DAYS!) and when they saw the BBB part, my daughter got all excited and my son said, "I guess there are more girls than boys in the world, because they have a lot of stuff for girls." (Of course he completely missed the pirate stuff, but anyway...) I'd like to do the BBB for DD, but only if DS can do it or something like it. We're not very traditional about gender stuff, so I'd be glad to see him get all sparkly, but not if everyone there is going to be freaky about it. Do they have anything they do for boys--a prince crown or something? Has anyone ever brought a boy there? How was the reaction from the CMs and other customers? Is there an alternative (pirate dress-up or something)?

My DD will have a blast in the pirate store too, so I'd like to be able to let them both enjoy both parts of it.

I guess now would be the time to put the hippie icon up, LOL at me.

PS: Edited to add that when DD asked why it was called Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, it was DS who knew that this was what Cinderella's fairy godmother said. I had no idea. Go DS!

Someone should respond who is experienced (my kiddles are older) but there is this hairdo they do on boys, and I think they do it there too, that is lots of gel, confetti stuff, colors......Capt Jack at the Pirate Tutorial called one kids hair "candy" so that is what it kinda looks like. I saw lots of boys with it the last couple trips (even a few dads). Don't know it's official name but am sure someone will pop on with it.

Awesome, thanks HopperFan. DS would LOVE that, and it would be so great to give him a chance to participate in the fancy stuff, while still retaining his GUY mojo.

There were a couple of boys there while my dd ws getting her BBB done. They wre all getting the "Cool Dude" and were having fun!

Thanks for this thread! Having a DD 14-she really isn't interested in the princess thing anymore;but we also have 2 DS's 5 and 2 and I would really like to do this with them next trip at xmas. Thanks;sometimes it does seem that at WDW more things are geared towards the girls,IMHO.

Thanks Hopper Fan for posting the link. Check out post 94 I don't remember what page but it is close to ten it was posted by HLester. She has boy girl twins who are six and she posted pics of both of them.

If you are just wanting you ds's to have this done you can also take them to the babershop on main street they do the same thing there and that way you don't have to be in the girly pink boutique.

Here's a couple of my son at BBB last October

The only problem that I had was that the goop they put on the back of his head took hours and hours to dry. Everywhere we went and he put his head back he left a Mickey imprint. Oh and his stylist wasn't very creative, but I don't think that there was much that she could do with a high and tight. It was alternating stripes with dots inbetween the stripes, and the big Mickey in the back.

Another thing to add is that your boy will be right in the mix with all of the girls. My son didn't mind because he was 3, but if your son is older it might make a difference. There is no separate area for the boys. They sit in the middle of all things pink.

Thanks for the great photos. I think DS will be fine--both kids are used to doing gendered stuff with the other one, so my DD can play superheroes and my DS can play princess. All good!

Now about those mickey prints--I'm wondering if that was intentional. The main worry I have now about this, for both of them, is that I doubt a day will go by when they'll stay out of the pool...

my DS2 will think that it's so cool to have a "cool dude" hair do, will probably ask DH to do it too, can;t disappoint your children!!

Just warn him. My DS was so excited about his "cool dude" treatment. However, one look at the salon, and he literally burst into tears - he's 5. All the pink and purple and foo foo stuff, he refused to walk in. With a little bit of coaxing from the staff (they were great) and lots of promises that they wouldn't make him look like a girl, he reluctantly agreed. He still pretty much pouted the whole time, but the look on his face was priceless when they turned him around so he could see himself in the mirror. He was THRILLED!!! So thrilled, in fact, that I wasn't allowed to wash his hair that night - definitely got our money's worth out of that!!

As long as you ds is turning 3 w/in 30 days he can do the cool dude at BBB. I don't know if they barbershop on main street is age specific or not b/c I know they do first haircuts.

My boys (9 & 5) LOVE getting their hair cut & dyed & sprinkled with mickey confetti in harmony barber shop in MK. The cost was either 12 or 14 & I heard if you dont want a haircut they DO, the style/dye/confetti for a few dollars cheaper.
Another 'boy' thing (though girls are welcome too) is the pirate adventure cruise from the Grand Floridian, another thing my kids loved.
