We're planning a surprise trip this spring, and we'll be going to the BBB with our 4yo for the first time. Because this is a last-minute trip, there isn't a lot of availability. We're currently booked for a 6:45pm spot at the Castle. I'm checking for cancellations, but for now, I have a couple of questions-

-I see all about morning appointments, but Has anyone done a night time BBB appt and if so, how did it go? Any tips on keeping the hairstyle (fairytale princess) overnight? Were you still able to have "the look" the next day? And how did you store dd's princess dress if you brought it with you to the park that day?

-Would you personally take a 6:45pm appt at the castle at the end of your trip (1 park day left) because it's in the CASTLE, or would you pick a morning appt earlier in your trip at Disney Springs in order to hopefully let dd have more time with the princess "look"?

Thanks so much for your help! Planning last-minute is not my favorite!

We did a morning appt but our girls were able to keep their hair in for 3 days (in March and May when it wasn't super hot). The bun is a solid shell of hairspray and other product. It doesn't move. My other daughter had the colored extensions in the ponytail. A couple of them popped open (we didn't realize until taking them out that they were clips not combs and could have been closed) but it looked awesome two days later for JTA.

Under other circumstances, I would say go for the castle since it's the castle but not on your last night. In that case, I would go to DS to have a couple of princess days. They get attention from CMs so it's fun beyond actually getting their hair and makeup done. The DS place is a lot less crowded so I would think it would be a nicer experience from the point of view of not being rushed and crowded (although if you find a cancellation the castle is still the castle).

I'd have her wear the dress. We did that the first year for an 11 am appt. It would be a pain to carry around unless your comfortable leaving it in a stroller.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear it lasted more than 1 day! I figured there would be a loooot of hairspray that went into that bun! haha
The appointment is actually the night before our last night- so we would still have 1 full day at MK left. In that case, would you still take the DS appointment or stay at MK? I'm so torn.

And one more question you might know- is the little crown haircomb at the front of the bun included with that hairstyle? Or is that something I need to buy?

My daughter had the bun style and the crown was included. They also get a cute Mickey head clip with pink 'crystals' in it! Her style lasted 2 days and may have lasted longer but she wanted it out.

Will you still be at the park a while? I ask this because my granddaughter(s) have done it and though they were thrilled to be princesses, about halfway through the day they wanted to change into their regular clothes. They said they were itchy, and it was hot. So, an early evening appointment may be the ticket for a 4 year old. Try to schedule a couple of princess meet and greets after. I think it will be magical either way. Keep checking for cancellations. They do happen, especially the closer you get. For a later appointment, I would get a locker for the dress.

We took our granddaughter on her 5th birthday in December 2014. Her appointment was at the castle at 2pm. We are taking her sister in May 2018 on her 6th birthday (wanted her to be a little taller so she can ride more). We will be taking PrincessWithABlaster's advice and trying the DS location. Over all we had fun at the castle, but it seemed too crowded and pretty impersonal. Her Fairy Godmother in Training was very nice, but seemed to be stressed and hurried. We purchased a dress for her and her sister at the location. Little sister was too young for the full treatment, but they did allow her to change into her dress there. The photographer took pictures of both girls together, which turned out adorable. Of course, what Meemaw would say otherwise?! I think their mother and I were more in favor of the Castle location in 2014 than the DGD was. As long as she was getting her hair and makeup done they could have done it in the middle of a parking lot and she would have been just as happy.

we loves DS location. They made such a fuss over DD5 and she enjoyed the royal treatment. we were lucky and got a res for Cinderella's royal table that night so she got to show all the princess her makeover.

I vote DS location as well. We have done both with my 4 year old and still feel that way. The castle is cool but chaotic as others have mentioned. They have the new magic mirror technology at the DS location as well as you can head over to the new photopass location next to the Marketplace Co-Op and they will take all kinds of pictures with cool backdrops that are included if you paid for Memory Maker

Another alternative would be the Ivy Trellis salon at the Grand Floridian. That's where I would take my daughter...if I had a daughter.

We have an appointment at the boutique in Magic Kingdom at 11 a.m. Should we change to Disney Springs instead? We don't like crowds at all.

If you are looking for a great dress I just ordered one off etsy for my soon to be 5 yr old granddaughter from a shop called loverdovers clothing. I wanted a Cinderella dress that would be comfortable to wear all day. I got the dress and it is perfect and adorable!!!! We are doing BBB in June. I plan on surprising her with the dress

If you want a sooner appt in the castle at MK, try going straight there at rope drop. We wanted to try the MK location on our last trip (Nov) but couldn't get an appt time that worked for us. We went at rope drop & they took her in right then. That being said, we also preferred the Disney Springs location-felt less chaotic & crowded. I thought my daughter would be so excited to be in the castle but she didn't seem to care that much. Agree with others that the bun hairstyle could have lasted for days but my daughter took hers out before bed that night.
