BGs called before official park opening

We are just back yesterday. We got BG 5 for WS one day, with park opening officially at 9am. We were there right before 8am, DCA was open and rides were operating. We rode a few rides walk-on, and I looked at the My Queues around 840 to see if they had started operating WS prior to official park opening. To my surprise, it said I only had until 09:07 to use my WS BG, which meant that they called my group at 08:07am, almost an hour prior to official park opening. We rushed over and rode it, but I just want to mention this in case you get a very low group number, and you think about going back to bed for a little rest before official park opening. They can call your group, I guess, anytime after they open the gates, even if it is much earlier than official park opening. I think they might let you on past your BG time if you missed it under this situation, but I am not sure. See my other post about what happened when our flight delay caused us to be late for our WS BG on our first park day. We did get to ride, but it was brought up pretty aggressively by the CM that we were late and he needed to know why.

We got ROTR group 12 on another day, and the parks again officially opened at 9am. They called our group at 08:51, so that was still before official opening time, but not by much.

I got ROTR BG 17 this morning but my whole fam is still asleep and park official open is 8am. I sure hope they don’t call us too soon!

We got WS 38 yesterday though and they didn’t make it to that until almost 10 (again, park open at 8am). I don’t think they’ve been opening the parks as much ahead of official opening since it moved to 8am though.

On the app, it says that you have 1 hour after your BG is called to use it.
However, I used a BG 8 hours after being called. The CM who took my "expired" BG didn't care. Let me through.
The good news for now is that your BG code stays on the app even past your 1 hour leeway and still scans as valid

We ended up needing to change rooms at the DLH so were even later than expected to the park. I did notice they didn’t start calling groups until a good bit after 8am. We were only about 15min late for our BG return window (which technically ended at 9:37am) and no one said anything.

I have read elsewhere that at both ROTR and WS, they will let you ride late, even until the end of the day. Most CMs won’t even ask why. We got stuck on PotC for half an hour, and told the CMs, but they brushed it off with a “No problem.”

Are Disney Hotel guests still admitted to the parks an hour before official opening? If so, could that be why the boarding groups are being called so early?

Probably because it's a lot easier than having a YouTube live stream cell phone shoved in their face with Karen yelling about return times.

As you stated parks were opening way before 9am. As soon as park opens the BG calls started. If you get an early BG your return time could have been shortly after official park opening.
