BEWARE those who get car sick...

I feel sick when i ride star tours , never had a problem on anything else , but star tours makes me wanna die............and I luv Star Wars so it really upsets me I feel sick on it. Any side effects from the meds? No drowsiness?

ugh, star tours made me really sick on this trip, too.

This is so funny, what makes different people sick while others are fine.

I have some kind of inner ear thingy, have never been great with spinny things, but sometimes just the subtle motions of direction shifts on airplanes gets me, too. Not so I'll actually barf, I just feel dizzy and gross for awhile. Reminds me very much of the vague "bleah" feeling I got while pg. Yet on Space I had a blast. Screamin' was a lot of fun, too, maybe because it was so fast and over soon. Some of the swaying on Soarin' got to me; I've felt that before with big IMAX type screens, like when they fly you over the Grand Canyon. Whoooaaa..

Drops, however, don't bother me in the least. Bring on ToT! :woohoo:

i agree, it is strange that people who get motion sick get it from different things!

i can handle TOT and soarin' absolutely fine. i can ride roger rabbit's cartoon spin and buzz lightyear without any problems, too. so i was surprised when i got so sick from TSMM. and bummed, too, because i really LOVE the game you get to play while on it!! :sad2:

Oh ya, we rarely ride Star Tours, partly because of the motion sickness, partly because it's so jerky it has given me headaches in the past. :( We do ride it occasionally, when the wait time is like 5 min. LOL I still love it, I just don't like the after effects.

One minute I was hungry, the next I was nauseous. I got clammy and felt like I was going to pass out
This is how I feel when I'am having low blood sugar. Disney does it to me ever time I go. It is a mixture of excitement, too much walking, and not enough food to fuel your body. All these things that can mess with your regular schedule of meals at home. Some people get really out of whack when there schedules get messed up. And get low blood sugar. It may be too much walking/exercise you aren't use too.

Mild hypoglycemia can make you feel hungry or like you want to vomit. You could also feel jittery or nervous. Your heart may beat fast. You may sweat. Or your skin might turn cold and clammy. You can treat a sudden (acute) episode of hypoglycemia by eating or drinking some form of sugar to return your blood sugar to a normal range. This treatment is usually all that is necessary for an isolated episode of hypoglycemia, such as from prolonged fasting or strenuous exercise without adequate food. Drink fruit juice or sugared (non-diet) soda pop or eat sugar in the form of candy, you should talk with your doctor about what happened. I like to drink the frozen lemonade when I'm in the parks!

For me it is Diabetes. I carry a meter that tests my blood sugar. Twice this last trip I had lows 45 and 65 that is very bad it could cause a diabetic coma. I should have numbers between 100 and 145. I carry glucose tablets that quickly bring my blood sugar up and then I need to eat!!

The trick with Star Tour is NEVER ride in the last top row, WoW that row is a killer!! After I realized different areas rode differently I found the 1st row is best and the sides of row 1 are the least effected. But you have to relax do not stiffen up. Let your back bone slip as the song says. You have to do that on Indy too if you stiffen up you will be sore the next day!!

Bonine and Mechlazine have no side affects. Some people find it has Drowsiness That is why my Dr. said to take it at bed time any drowsiness will have happened while you were asleep. And you will be fine. The Disney Cruises use Mechlazine for sea sickess. Bonine and Mechlazine are 24 hour meds verses Damamine that is every 4 hours!

Hey, this is really good info, thanks for posting it! I didn't know that you can take dramamine at night and "get the drowsiness over with." That sounds perfect, since I often don't sleep too well in hotel rooms (at least, the first night) but I don't like taking sleep meds. I bought some dramamine but was wondering how it would affect me.

I get hypoglycemic easily, especially since I had kids. It used to strike me in malls when I was pregnant, walking around in an enclosed atmosphere. I've learned that while you can take care of an episode as you described, by eating or drinking something sugary, that the episodes are best prevented by eating lean protein, which gives you a more stable and long-lasting fuel supply. Rather than simple carbohydrates like sugary or refined flour things, which can make your blood sugar soar and then subsequently crash. So I'm more likely to do well by eating an omelette with veggies in it for breakfast, rather than cereal or a pastry. For snacks in the parks, I have brought along raw almonds in a baggie. They are a great source of protein and Vitamin E. In between all those baaaaaad things like Tigger Tails and Dole Whips (yum) the almonds help keep my blood sugar stable.

DD20 has hypoglycemia. It runs in our family, along with diabetes. I'm always careful to drink enough water and snack well while at DL. Those are GREAT tips.

I'm LOL though, you said to never ride in the top rear row and that's the BEST place for me to ride. LOL I sit up there with my hands in the air and the sickness is less for me.

I'm with ya on the Star Tours thing.

I tried to ride it again this summer and dang if I didn't feel like I was going to toss my cookies after we rode that ride.

So far it is the only ride that does it for me.

I may have to take meds next time because I really do love that ride!

I thought it was just me cause I am getting OLD! LOL!:rotfl2:

lol I thought it was just getting old too!
I am going to look into the meds , I hate to have to close my eys during the ride.

OMG!!! This was me at the parks - just about the entire vacation.

WOW!!!

Even on the flight home I was like this. It was awful. I had no idea. I really need to ask my doctor about it the next time I see her.

Thank you so much!!

i wonder if there is some correlation between hypoglycemia and a tendency towards motion sickness?

i deal with both, and it seems at least a few people in this thread do, as well.

Yanno, Star Tours is one of the things we missed the first time, so I want to try it, but my sister said it was the one that really made her barfy, too. So I'm nervous. Guess I'll have to trust to that Dramamine!
