I'm not sure if the other DVC resorts have the biting flies, but I came back looking like I had leprosy on my legs and arms from all the bites I got from those satanic insects. You don't feel them until after they have bitten and left their mark. Then the bite oozes a bit until the itch starts and drives you crazy. Big red welts as well. I must have 20-30 bites on me. And they still itch like crazy.

And they weren't bed bugs because Bill didn't have a single one. I was the only one sitting on the porch for extended periods of time watching the golfers or using the computer. Early in the morning and late in the evening.

I've gotten a few bites in the past, but none like this trip.

I've seen another recent thread about these yellow flies in mk and epcot. makes me want to rethink our June 2012 at the THV and just stick with December. hmmm, what's less fearsome; biting flies or flu season?

No...they were imported for the exclusive enjoyment of OKW guests!
;)

Were they "flies" or more like no-seeums?

No, you can easily see them. They are like small bees or spotted flies.

I can testify, lol. Was at OKW in May and the bites are horrible on my arms and legs. I get bit just as much at home. Must be my blood type or something. But the strange thing was, I had no bites the first half of the week, but the last half only me and my daughter out of a party of 6 were being feasted on. We had no rain or anything. Lucky us, we must have arrived at the beginning of the season :rotfl2:

I got bit up by flies during an evening at Fort Wilderness a couple of years ago in June. I still have faint marks by my one ankle.

Hmmm - never had a bug problem there. Will throw in some spray and start eating garlic more often (and maybe increase my vitamin B). Avoiding perfumes can be helpful also. Thanks for the warning.

I was there at OKW the end of May and my friend one morning noticed bites on her legs. I did not have any at that time. However, that night at the Magic Kingdom waiting for the fireworks something keep biting at my legs. When I got back to the room my legs had large patches of red. It looked like I was breaking out with a very bad rash. Knowing this now I would use bug spray next time.

I had many bites on my legs and arms when we were there in mid May. We were at AKV and then BCV so they are just all over the place!

I thought at first they were bed bug bites but then I got one on my finger that became so infected I had to have it drained and be put on antibiotics while I was at WDW :scared1:!!

The worst of the bites happened after the back stage safari tour at the hippo cages; I should have figured from then that it wasn't bed bugs! The hydrocotrisone cream in my OL was a life saver; gosh were they itchy!!

Still have the marks from my bites in mid-May! I always seem to get bit by something at Disney but I get bit at home too.

Yes yellow fly bites can get intense and infected and leave scars. Obviously Disney has stopped spraying the heavy stuff for them as they have definitely gotten worse.

Thanks for the heads up. We're leaving tomorrow and will pack the Off!! Here in Virginia they're bad too. We live in a heavily wooded area, and they just buzz you something awful!
