I just wanted to let everyone know that I had a lengthy conversation with Guest Relations that I wanted to pass along to you.

On our last trip to Disney we had an incident where we found cockroaches under our luggage when we picked it up to pack on the last day. Upon notifying the front desk we were told "we are so sorry we will get that taken care of". I decided to follow up and write a letter letting them know what had happened.

It has been nearly a month since I sent the letter and I finally received follow up to it. I was told that they have no record of our complaint so there is nothing they can do. She said there is no proof. So I asked her next time if it would be better for us to bring up the dead bugs to the front desk and she said yes or to record it on our phones.

I about fell over when that was the advice. I said wow wouldn't that be a magical way for people standing in line to check in to start their vacation. So I just wanted to pass along this information to anyone who might be staying at All Star Movies to beware of. We were in Buidling 10 Room 715.

Obviously our trip is over so it has no effect on me but it makes me mad for the people who stayed in the room right after us.

Ah shoot- judging by your post title, I thought it may be haunted, lol......I think Id be more scared of the roaches:eek:

Thanks for posting. It truly is a shame that the front desk did not make a note of it anywhere. Does that mean no spraying was done? :scared1: I'd be mighty p.o.'d if I brought roaches back to my house with me. I hear they could be hard to get rid of! ewwww

No extra spraying but she did say they will have extra training on making sure things are documented. I said well that doesn't help us or the people that stayed after us does it? her response was no it doesn't but hopefully the next time it is reported it will. It was a very frustrating phone call.

All I was hoping for was hey I'm sorry we did additional spraying to make sure that they aren't there. Not a bring the dead bugs next time.

Gross- I can just imaging bringing up a dead roach to the desk "Excuse me, is this part of the Dining Plan??" :scared1:

On our last trip... we did this.

At AKL, we checked in, put our carry on bags in the room, and ran to our 8 p.m. dining reservation.
Came back to the room 4 hours later after a relaxing dinner and some resort exploring, unpacked everyone's suitcase, and had the girls get ready for bed.

I went into the bathroom to get ready for bed myself....and when I flipped on the light, I about flipped out at the 2 roaches scurrying for separate corners !!

I immediately screamed, DH came running, and he caught one of them.
I packed all our suitcases right then, THEN we all went down to the front desk, me dragging the suitcases, with the girls in their nightclothes, and DH carrying the glass with the (live) roach.

The clerk was full of apologies, but she refused to closely inspect the glass. She asked DH to 'release the poor critter' and DH took it out the front door where he promptly disposed of it. She assigned us another room, but said someone was going to come and check it first for bugs, so we sat by the indoor firepit to wait. We waited for over 3 hours.
It took until 3 am for them to clear the room.

I must say, the clerk was very sympathetic, the kids slept on the lounges, and they comped us the room for that night.
Our new room was on the opposite end of the AKL and I didn't see anything in our room that wasn't supposed to be there.

I hope there isn't a next time.

That's so yucky!! Hopefully it's an isolated incident....but where there's one, there's many. :crazy2: Luckily at our stay at movies, we didn't experience any bugs.

Disney can spray every single room at every single resort every single day and the roaches will still thrive. It's Florida and those suckers are everywhere. I won't even tell you about my experiences living in Mississippi for three years in a house that was treated once a month. I think those bugs laughed each and every time the exterminator came. They just hid better for the next month. Disney World was built on swampland after all.

Were you staying in the herbie, toy story, mighty ducks, 101, or fantasia area?

Are there roaches in Florida in Jan/Feb? We live in arctic so I've never seen one in real life. But on TV they look big and scarey :scared1:

Yes, they should have been a little nicer on the phone, and not admitted your complaint was not written down, but I do agree that bugs are everywhere in Florida due to the climate. My parents live near Naples and they have a monthly bug service also and their house is always spotless.

I found 2 spiders on 2 dif nights IN our bed at BCV- told the FD and they offered to come with the exterminator. They were full, no other rooms avail. Nice. I have to say it was the first time in many trips that the CMs I spoke with didn't seem to concerned. I mean spiders! They try to give me the .."this is Florida" speach. Well, I live in S Fla and am used to the bugs ut spiders are not the usualdef not IN-as in under the covers- the bed!

I went to college in Florida and I understand the bug situation, but I don't want them in my room while I am on vacation.

I am staying at ASMo in March.......:confused3

I really shouldn't have opened this thread!

We had just itty bitty bugs in our CBR room once. I figured we had a ground floor room, so that was bound to happen.

I don't know what I would do if I found a few cockroaches scurrying about.

Sorry that they didn't say more than what they said to your letter, email etc. Shame on them. I realize that there are roaches everywhere but you don't expect them be at Disney (unless of course they are part of a show:lmao: ) I also realize it is a fact of life in the south but we lived in Rhode Island and had to spend a night in a hotel in the winter as our heating unit died & had to stay elsewhere. Guess what that room had roaches & it wasn't a cheap hotel. We went down & inform the front desk & they moved us & refunded our money and said she was sorry that they been having problems with roaches:confused3

Side note be glad it wasn't a snake:rotfl:

Not sure what the OP was expecting them to do. It's Florida and even the best insect control program can't totally prevent them. Those things fly and if you leave your door open they can come in unnoticed. Keep your doors closed. You may not expect them in a hotel room but that's almost totally impossible o prevent.

This is unfortunate to hear. We stayed at All Star Music in a family suite on the ground floor (in hot and humid August) and did not see one bug in our room during our entire seven night stay.

I don't know about Jan/Feb, but when we were on our last trip in May, a GIGANTIC roach was on my daughter in her stroller at EPCOT. We have no idea how it got in there with her, but it was at the end of the day, and she started whining, and there it was! I can't even tell you how massive it was. They say you shouldn't even step on them b/c the eggs can get on your shoes and you can carry them home. Yuck.

Ew. Hopefully they weren't bedbugs.
