Beware of this gift card scam!

Thank you for the warning. So sorry that this happened to you! Best of Luck!

Duchie, do you mind me asking which cc company is giving you such a hard time? They sound like morons.

Well, I'm sad to say that it's Chase, and it's my Disney Visa.

Anyone know why it's in $800 amounts...I don't understand that part...

The police officer told me it has something to do with limits - if they go over that amount and get caught, it's a more serious offense. I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was along those lines.

Is that the line between theft and "grand theft"?

They have had problems with servers at restaurants doing this. They take your card away to run it through for your bill and run it through some thing they have stashed in their pocket, apron or wherever. Then they make duplicate cards or sell the data.

Such a big turnover at the restaurants, it's hard to catch them.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. And I want to say thank you-- I was actually considering bidding on a gift card on ebay tonight (they had 12% cashback) but I'm glad I read this before I did anything. You probably saved me a lot of money and headache.

Zombie thread that was pulled up by a bot of some kind, it looks like. Or a general spammer. Reported.

This is what happened to us at Red Lobster here. We had such a nice young, good looking waiter, was so attentive. Paid our bill and luckily for us, at the time we used our credit union (which is very good on staying on top of things) we stopped on way home to buy a small item. I gave them my credit card and it was refused - three times they tried- by the time we got home there was a message on our machine to call the CU. They told us within a couple minutes of out RL payment, our card was used to make a large purchase at a company in another country. It was flagged and denied. We told them our side and it matched. Our card # was cancelled and they issued us another one. I always worry when they take your credit card out of sight at a restaurant, (but now that we have Chase Disney :scared1:) we like to use it to get our points :confused3 . Makes you wonder what to do:eek: So sorry OP about your experience, and sure hope they do the right thing for you and all ends well  Thanks for the alert!

There is a scam which harms the gifts as well as it is wastage of money and time. So be careful and get good control over there. And don't believe or trust like this types of scams.

Say what?? You lost me there :confused3 I pulled up your other posts and was just as puzzled!!

Why would you ask ppl not to respond negatively to you? What do you think they would say? That if it seems to good to be true it probably is? That you never really get something for nothing but you tried and it turned out bad?

I hate to see ppl scammed but do you really honestly think someone is going to sell you a valid, legal gift card worth a hundred dollars and only make you pay 25 dollars?

I am surprised Chase is given you a hard time. Someone charged my mother's chase credit card just recently. We had taken her card away because she was over spending so she didn't even have the credit card. She lives in Ct and the charge was made in person in PA. When I called Chase, he told me that chase will cover any and all fraudulent charges.

FYI-This thread is 2 1/2 years old and got bumped up by a spam post which has since been deleted.
