Beware of Pickpockets!!!

Hey guys, just wanted to remind everyone of the dangers of pickpockets! My mom had her wallet stolen out of her backpack in the Gare de l'Est train station while we were headed to Disney last week.

The pickpocket managed to get it out from under some other objects in her backpack without her noticing. He had about a 20 second window. We're assuming he/she saw us visit an ATM and then saw her put the wallet into the bottom of her bag. Lock your bags, even if you are going to be opening them a moment later! And don't expect help from the police in Paris, because they'll just laugh at you!

Thanks for the reminder. I love my money belt for the city and metros, then a good zipped purse for at DLP.

That's so scary! It must be awful to have that happen at the start of your hols. I never take much cash but next time I go I'm definitely going to keep my money in my purse and cards in a card wallet so atleast I won't be stuck if it does happen.

I'm so sorry this happened to you and hope it didn't impact too much on your holiday.

It's always good to have timely reminders to keep bags zipped, not to have phones and wallets in trouser/coat pockets (unless they're the type my DH uses abroad which is a wallet on a chain) and not to wear backpacks on the back in crowds or queues.

France like everywhere else in the world attracts pickpockets. Where ever in the world there are tourists you will find pickpocketers.

My wife was done in Romania once and I have been done in Cardiff.

Always good to have a little reminder, my BIL has his wallet on a chain. I think we are all sometimes guilty of letting our guard drop on holiday.
