Hello again CBers! Our 3rd full day here among the magic. We got off to a very late start today since DS9 was in one of his moods and decided to flip out a bit. We didn't get to the MK until 11. Lots and lots of people out there today. The weather was also clear and warm.
We first got fp's for Jungle Cruise then went over to Tom Sawyer's Island for the very first time. Not very exciting, but the kids enjoyed it and it was a nice change of pace - no lines! We then got the kids fries at the McDonald's stand in Adventure Land. I know that a lot of folks are against having McD's in Disney, but as the parent of a VERY picky eater, I am very happy to have their fries so DS can eat something.
We then got a table at The Pirate el picko or whatever it's called. No lines - no wait so we ate there. Not exciting but that's ok. DH & I had the tacos. We got in line for Pirates but DD5 decided she didn't want to go near it - not sure why since she's usally not afraid of anything. No problem and we just walked out.
We were ready for Jungle Cruise and then DS wanted to go back to the room - he said he wasn't feeling well and wanted to use the bathroom in our room and not one at the park. Instead of arguing with him DH took him back and DD and I were on our own - yay!
(sorry boys..)
We went on JC and had fun....I hope those captains enjoy their job because we always enjoy the ride. We had 2 extra fp's so I gave them to a young couple who were walking by. We almost got attacked by Brittainy Spears, but we got out JUSTIN time..
After JC we hung around the bridge near Splash Mountain. We were in the crowd getting wet from the spray from the boats. Ah, to be 5 again! DD just loved this and we stayed until we were quite wet. I love having a 5 year old - she enjoys life so much and the little things make her happy.
DD's next request was for Haunted Mansion. We didn't have time to wait for fp so we waited in line - not too bad at 25 minutes or so.. The ride broke down twice while we were on it - once near the hallway where you can see the candelabra's...and then next near the ballroom scene. We had the tall ghost as our hitch-hiker.
We walked through Fantasy Land and it was wall-to-wall people. It's a Small World had a 40 minute wait and that is usually a walk on. One guy behind me was complaining that he hated Disney and all the lines. (Hint: Don't come during spring break!!)
Over to Tomorrowland to ride the TTA twice. Love that ride! We could see the lines for all the other rides. Waits were listed for 50 - 70 minutes. FP return times were 60 - 90 minutes after the current time - not too bad.
I am still amazed by the number of people who do not know about fast pass. I overheard one gentleman ask how much it cost.
After TTA we walked down main street and got to see 3 marching bands from Massachusetts - Dudley/Charlon, Burlington and Somerset. We were so close to seeing the parade but DD didn't want to stay - poor kid had been a trooper and she wanted to go back to the resort.
We stopped to pick up the photo we had taken of the 4 of us in front of castle. I had bought us all the same red shirts when the Disney store had a sale. The picture with the castle behind us came out cute - the one with the kids holding Tinkerbell didn't - DS was NOT happy in it.
The nice part about the CR is the location - we walked back using the walkway. So cool to have the monorail pass overhead.
We came back to the room to a note that DS and DH went to the arcade. We are just hanging out and DD is going through the bag of candy stuff we bought on Main street. Now they have those clear tubes that the kids can fill with colored flavored sugar...ahhhh, a dentists' dream come true!
Not sure what our plans are for tonight as we have no ps. It is our last night here as tomorrow we move to The Boardwalk.
Something I overheard today - As we were waiting in the ticket line to get into the MK, there was a woman behind me who had a big (full) back pack and also a belly bag. She asked - "We have to wait in another line?" I explained that she had just gone through the bag-search line and this was now the ticket line. And honestly, her next question was - "Will there be lines inside the park??"
When we were walking past the carousel the white rabbit was coming out and one gentleman said to his young son - "Look at the bunny!"
Still no problems with strollers...only nice cm's and no grumpy ones...it's hot & crowded but people have been ok.
In the parks it is always best to walk on the right side - that way traffic flows much easier...just a suggestion!
If you park your children in strollers so they are directly in the sun they WILL cry.
Taking your screaming child on Haunted Mansion will most likely scar them for life.
If you eat a Mickey bar at the Magic Kingdom it has no calories.
As I sit and type this I can look out across the lake and hear the horns on the boats. I can also see the water mice zooming along. I hope the boys get back soon so maybe we can try them.
Melissa (melk) I thought of you on the flight down as it was VERY bumpy!!! Not sure if Andy would like the April crowds, but it's better for us "experienced" visitors since we know what to avoid. I also like the fact that I can get around the park without a map - lots of people stop dead center in the walkways to read their maps and figure out where they are.
Lots of Brits down here on holiday.
Got to go and hang out on the balcony for a bit and soak all this in. Unless DS improves (we are working on getting him help) I am not sure when we will be back. We had been saying November, but I'm not sure...
