Just returned from the Mousesurplus store in Haines city which is about a 30 min drive from Downtown Disney area. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR GAS! This place is a joke. When you ask for a price (90% of the stuff is unmarked) they make up a price and if you go up to the counter to pay with an item that has a price, they claim its mismarked and won't honor the price. We took a friend and her daughter with us and it was a first for all of us. Not one person (worker) was friendly and it is very dirty and disorganized. We all came to the conclusion that these people dumpster dive at Disney. I know that this place isn't connected in anyway to Disney, but I plan on writing to Disney and telling them to lock their dumpsters to keep these scam artists out of there. We talked to a local women from around there and she said the place goes downhill more each week. She said last week they were even giving stuff away because they had so much junk!!! There was an area marked "off limits" that contained all the ebay junk--BUYER BEWARE!!!

I've got some stuff - they don't dumpster dive, they get it directly from Disney. (Seriously, how can you dumpster dive a whole warehouse full of Grand Floridian furniture?)

I suppose they could be going downhill business-wise since we were there a couple months ago. Hard to believe though. :confused3

Believe me they have to be dumpster diving. The majority of the furniture is all broken, cracked, stained and dirty. They had a sofa bed pulled out and the mattress looked like it had been peed on by everyone whoever slept on it. The only reason I posted our experience is because I don't want anyone else wasting their precious vacation time driving to this dump! I bought something from them on ebay once and I thought the shipping was overpriced and now seeing where it came from it--I know the item was also overpriced. I love shopping at the outlets but this place should be condemmed!

Unfortunately, Disney sells it directly to them by the trailer-full. They used to sell that stuff to CMs, but with ebay abuse, they sell it to these people now.

I have also been to the warehouse. It depends on when you go as to what you will find.

They just had their semi-annual sale at the end of March, so they probably haven't restocked the warehouse. We found several items to purchase and were able to bargain on some of them.

They don't dumpster dive. Companies bid for contracts to do "removal and demolition" for Disney projects. MouseSurplus and Surplus Kingdom are the 2 companies that you usually here about. There guys go into the hotel rooms, take everything out to prepare for the remodels. And as part of their contract they get to do whatever they want with the stuff (I think the "stuff" is their payment, not $$). A lot of it ends up as scrap, and that's why they don't care about the condition, but there is obviously a small resale market within the Disney fan community.

Brian, the guy that runs Surplus Kingdom used to run MouseSurplus. He took on a partner and they had a falling out, and so he sold his stake and started Surplus Kingdom. However, I think MouseSurplus is a little on the shady side now. SurplusKingdom actually had the Grand Floridian contract, but MouseSurplus sent someone to SurplusKingdom to buy like 200 sets of the furniture so they could sell it. SurplusKingdom responded by dropping their prices below what they sold it the MouseSurplus guy.

And now Mousesurplus eBay's it. Makes sense.

That is so sad that Disney sells to these hucksters. I would rather they donate it to a needy organization. I see Marriott is doing the same thing. When we were leaving the store another customer said to one of the workers
"What do you make up the prices as the day goes on" and the worker said "we can charge whatever we want It's Disney"!
