First my long story, then the question. DW and I are heading to the World via Continental Airlines on 9/28. Our original plan was to spend 6 days in Orlando, drive to Fort Lauderdale and spend a couple of days with relatives, then drive back on Sunday 10/7 in time for our 4pm flight out of MCO. We just received word that Continental has eliminated that flight and has rebooked us at 12:40pm, which is now the last non-stop of the day to Cleveland. Personally we would like to avoid leaving fort Lauderdale at 6am in order to return our rental car and be at the airport 2 hours ahead of time. We would prefer to leave Fort Lauderdale Sunday night, stay at a cheap motel near Orlando and fly out Monday instead. We thought it would be worth it to spend 75 bucks for one extra day's car rental and one night's motel to spare us the aggravation, but not if we have to shell out $100 change fee to the airline.

My question is: Given that our original flight was cancelled, do you think Continental will allow us to change our return flight to Monday without charging us the $100 fee? I figured that if your response was "no way", then I won't waste my time on hold with the airline.

I am not BeverlyLynn but I would think that would certainly be possible. Call Continental and ask. You are trading the busiest northboard day (sunday) for a much slower day. And besides, all the airlines need passengers now. Just my two cents worth, but Continental is certainly a fine airline!!!!

I thought I read that Beverly Lynn was leaving for vacation on Wednesday? If so, she may not be back in time to answer your question.

Just give Continental a call and ask them. I agree with the first poster...you probably won't have a problem at all.

Good luck!
