Hello everyone

My fiance and I will be taking our honeymoon in California in August, we are driving from San Francisco to LA (stopping off along the way of course!). When we reach LA we are staying in Beverly Hills and then driving on to DLR to the GC resort. It will be Monday the 27th Of August we are travelling.

Can anyone give us advice on approx how long it will take to drive and giving the notoriously busy LA traffic what time of day we should leave Beverly Hills to miss the bulk of the traffic?

Any advice would be a huge help.

Thanks!!

It could take anywhere from 35 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic! I'd leave later in the morning, although around noon sometimes traffic gets clogged up, too. The funny thing about L.A. traffic is that it really has no rhyme or reason, and people go EVERY direction at rush hour, so you really don't know where it'll hit.

I would advise getting a current L.A. map (so you can plot out alternate routes if you get stuck) and discussing possible best routes with the front desk at your hotel in Beverly Hills before you leave.

Have a wonderful honeymoon and a great life together!!!

Two things that might help are to plot your primary and alternate routes and find out what the traffic station is - with news and traffic every 10 minutes.

Even if you drive in the middle of the day, an accident can have you stuck on the freeway for awhile so know your alternate routes.

Avoid freeways before 10am and any time from about 3 on.

Have fun and congrats!

Thanks very much for the information, thats great. We'll definately plan out alternative routes and try and travel during the not so obvious 'hot spot' times! Good idea also to ask at the front desk in the hotel!

Also, thanks for the congrats! I'm unbelievably excited, for the wedding and honeymoon! I don't know how i'm going to wait for the next 3 months to go by!

Thanks again!
