Between Christmas & New Year's: Vero + Riviera resort only stay?

Would you stay at Riviera the weekend between Christmas and New Year's for a no-parks trip?

I am thinking about booking a short trip between Christmas and New Year's. It would probably be a resort only trip because I don't want to fight the crowds in the parks. It will be me, my husband, and our 8 and 13 year old sons.

I'm thinking the bulk of it would be at Vero, but I would like to stay at WDW on either the front or back end.

Would probably fly down on Friday, December 27, and return home on January 1 or 2.

My questions are:
1. What are your thoughts on Riviera for a resort only stay? We would probably be there on Friday and Saturday nights. Would you avoid WDW at this time even if we are not in the parks?

2. Anybody been to Vero in this timeframe? I understand they do something for NYE -- we are low key and just a little something would be great for us. I'd also want to visit Kennedy Space Center on the visit -- maybe on the way from WDW to Vero?

Thank you! (For reference: We have owned at BRV since 2016. Have stayed at Copper Creek, AKL, and Hilton Head so far. Loved them all.)

I would not think Riviera would be to full, since only a little part is declared for DVC use. Leaving most of the resort for cash reservations and it is a deluxe resort with high cash prices. Will Disney have buyers for these rooms? I don’t know. Any day at Disney is a better day up here in the Northeast at that time of year.

Riviera will be full. All of Disney will be full, even on cash rates.
Wow. Just looked at the rates. Tower Studio $561+ tax, Studio std $781+tax, Studio preferred $892+ tax, 1 bed std $1,151+ tax, 1 bed preferred $1,356+ tax, 2 bed std $1,749+ tax and 2 bed preferred $2,008 + tax per night. In the fall I’m staying in a VGF 2 bedroom for 6 nights and the cost of the dues for those points are under $2,000. No way I’m spending that for one night.

Yeah. But it's not atypical of the pricing everywhere on campus that week, and they will fill. Has happened everywhere else during inception and initial sales, and no reason to believe it won't here. That week, every room, everywhere, is full.

Go price some of the Club options at the Deluxes. They may already not be possible to book those dates, at those prices.

Guess a lot of people have a lot of money to dispose of.

I am a fan of WDW at NYE, but I wouldn’t want to pay premium points for just a resort stay, are you sure?

Three years ago, I waitlisted and was able to get a studio at OKW for like December 28-Jan 3. I waitlisted at 7 months. I usually book BLT and BWV right at 11 months for the dates I want, I do not remember why that year I decided so late in the game. I enjoy the special fireworks A LOT!

Now, we like the Vero Resort a lot. I understand they have some activities for NYE, I could see trying that one year.
