Better to book onboard or later

Is it better to book your next cruise while you are onboard or should you wait until later? I was just wondering how much you could actually save by booking on board or if it's better to wait and see what your TA can come up with. Thanks.

Last year we rebook while onboard. The cruise price actually increase $800 while we were onboard and you are given a $200 stateroom credit. The current price (and price for the last 5 months) is now over $2,500 more than our booking price. I plan on rebooking again this Nov. The deposit is 100% refundable and once off the ship you will not be able to get all the benefits available aboard. If you find a lesser price when you are off the ship you can always transer the reservation over the the TA or see if Disney will reduce the price.

Wow! Do you know if you can change the dates and or categories once you've booked? I'd like to book another cruise while we're on the ship but don't really know our schedule for the following year.

I think if you change your date you may be able to keep your onboard credit, but the price for the cruise will be based on the current price at the time you make the change.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but that was my understanding.

DCL has a very nice promo through end of year....

book onboard a future 7-day cruise for dates 8/04-9/04 and you will receive a stateroom credit of $400.00, vs the usual $200.00 typically given....

if you were to transfer your res. to a TA, you would still get the promo credit...
