Who has better sub sandwiches than Subway?

DH and I have always liked Subway, but their prices are getting a bit high. We each got a footlong club sub last night (I hate half mine and saved the other half for lunch today) and it was a little over $14. A little more than what we would like to spend on two sandwiches. They weren't even specialty sandwiches, those cost even more!

And they are getting skimpy on their meats. Putting less on than they used to, and the roast beef slices were about half the size they used to be. :(

There are no other sub sandwich shops in town, but I think there is a Quiznos place in a nearby town, maybe we should give them a try.

What other places have better, and less expensive, subs than Subway does?

I like Quiznos they are not cheaper but I have got coupons in the paper time to time buy one get one at quiznos. I like the local places around town as opposed to the big chains.

Jersey Mikes! Almost as good as the mom and pop delis back in NY.

I know you are in MI, but when you come back down south, you HAVE to get a sub at Publix. They are awesome!!

Yes, the $5 footlong promotion has been gone for quite awhile now. :(

No Jersey Mike's or Firehouse or Publix here. :(

Maybe I'll have to google to see what's available around here. But I don't want to drive an hour to find a good, reasonably priced sub sandwich either. :)

I've never been a fan of Subway. I think Quiznos are great. I recently tried Firehouse and thought they were fantastic.

Mazzio subs are decent

I just noticed you were in Michigan. I'm not sure what area you're in, but if you have a Mancino's nearby, they are phenomenal. :thumbsup2

We like Firehouse and Quiznos too, but Firehouse costs more than Subway here. We can find coupons for Quiznos usually. Publix Boars head are the absolute best, but they cost over $7 for a whole sub too. DH and I share one, so the cost is not too high.

From one Michigander to another... Jimmy John's. I think that their prices are reasonable and they are much tastier than Subway.

Another Michigander here...my husband loves Jersey Giants...give them a try!

Our Subway has the $5.00 promo here permantly. There is a list of subs that are always just 5 dollar, - Tuna, Spicy Italian, BLT and 4/5 others. The $5.00 for any sub, according to the in-store sign, will be starting up again soon.

Not sure where you are at in MI, but Penn Station subs are pretty darn good. Not cheap, but are so much better than Subway. There is one in Novi, Clinton Township, Kalamazoo, Westland and Rochester.

I can't imagine not being able to get subs from the dozens of local delis we have here (wrapped in white waxed paper). Subway tastes nothing like them! OP, I'm sorry...

I can recommend better but not cheaper. Mancino's is awesome. We used to go to one in IL, but it is far from us now. I like Jimmy John's and Quizno's, but they are pricier than Subway, too. Penn Station (if you have one) is good, too.

Mmm Jimmy John's. :lovestruc They are a little bit more expensive than Subway, but I like their bread a lot better and they put a lot more on their subs. Plus, they deliver! :thumbsup2

cheaper is not always better... especially with food products.

you can do cheaper and way WAY better by making them yourselves.

Mikeeee
