Better pool - CSR or POR?

Well, we are moving our trip up from December to September so the pool is now going to be a big part of our vacation. Which resort has a better pool? I was also thinking of shelling out the extra $200 to move to AKL if that would be better. We are used to the pool at CBR, which we love, so I'd hate for the kids to be disappointed.

We've stayed at both and like both pools equally.
My 8 year old loves to have a pool slide and preferred the pools at CSR and POR over any other stays we've had (Poly, AKL, BWV and OKW).
Don't get me wrong, he enjoyed them all, but he lists these two as his favourites.

I visited both resorts on our last trip and both main pool areas seemed nice. The one at POR seemed more shaded, so don't know if that would make a difference in the heat of September???

If the pool slide factors into your decision, CSR is supposed to have the better slide compared to POR.

CSR definitely has a better slide than POR, but POR does seem to have more shade.

I would probably show the children pictures of both pools and let them decide. We may all say that CSR is better than POR, but maybe to your children may think otherwise.

coronado springs is really nice...probably the most expensive/ best moderate pool.

but port orleans (not dixie's) pool has always been great in a more simplistic kinda way.

Both have great pools but I would spring the extra bucks for AKL.

How many nights are you staying? Only $200 more for AKL vs. CSR? That sounds like a great deal to me if you are staying longer than a few nights! We liked the pool a little better at CSR than AKL (the slide was better, for sure), but I think I would pay the extra to stay at AKL where you will have much more deluxe accomodations, a private balcony and access to the pool at Kidani (I think they still allow that for AKL guests). Overall I think AKL is worth $200 more than CSR.

To be fair, we have yet to stay at POR.

I much prefer the pool at POR, plus the pool area is more shaded. Keep in mind that at POR, you can also use the pool at POFQ since they're sister resorts.

We the digsite pool at CSR! It's our favorite resort on property because of the pool.

These are my two favorite pools on property that I have stayed at or tried (used to be DVC and we did enjoy the pool hopping).

What I like about each:

CSR: Love having the pool bar with food options and drink refill right there. It has the better slide and it you have young kids its a nice pool in that it doesn't have a lot of blind spots. It also has lots of seating and is frequently not crowded due to the fact many guests are conventioners and not swimming that much. And note, the convention thing is not an issue for us except that its a pro for busses and pools since they are both typically not nearly as crowded! My only complaint with this pool is that there is very little shade.

POR: Love the amount of shade at the pool, the water fall features and the theming of the pool. Like that fact that is fairly close to the food court with all of its choices. My kids have always enjoyed the slide. My favorite thing to do is sit in one of the back rows, in the shade with a good book and a drink from the pool bar with the pool right there, but not right in my face! On a hot day its one of the most pleasant spots in all of WDW.
