Better not to go Virgin?

We have just booked a short break for Easter to NY. We've booked the best deal we could find on the internet for the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square (pay up front at time of booking, no changes to booking allowed, non refundable if cancelled) and it has cost $1700 for 5 nights!! and that was really cheap compared to others in the area :scared1: That's twice as much as the flights have cost me!

New York thing for three days sounds a good idea, just be wary of hotel room prices :scared1:

Your trip Orlando - Dulles - Heathrow - Glasgow sounds as bad as it was.

If you could do Orlando - New York( or any US city) - Glasgow then this is a good way back.
I've done it with continental to EDI, much better than via London.

One other option might be Flybe to Manchester then Virgin.
The Virgin price is the same just now as LGW, but might change.
No real benefits over Gatwick but just another option.
2A + 2C GLA to MAN with flybe is £176 just now for your dates, not sure if the flight times work.
There is options for EDI as well.

Thanks for the info, actually I never considered Edinburgh, I live closer to Edinburgh than Glasgow, I guess it's just because i've flown from Glasgow before.

I just phoned VA to get a Glasgow to Orlando quote and it's £2391 (BMI's part of the trip from Glasgow to London is £550!!).

Continental are still looking massively much better and cheaper at:

£1922 from Edinburgh to Orlando with an on the ground time at New York of 1.5 hours, which we can handle or

£1907 from Edinburgh to Miami with a change of planes and connection time in New York of 4 hours, which I guess is okay, i'm sure we can eat and shop for 4 hours!! (We'd be staying in Miami for 3 nights).

This looks like the best price at the moment.

I know there are Globespan and TCD and other charters but my criteria for flights has to be 2 x 23kg luggage allowance and either seat back tv's or overhead tv's for the kids. It was a nightmare without them last time.

That's New York out then!
