I am trying to help my parents plan a trip to Disney with my DD10. DD10 gets out of school on May 19th. Would the crowds be better or worse if they went on May 21st or waited until the first week in June. Unfortunately, Memorial Day falls on May 25th this year, so if they flew out there on the 21st, they would have Memorial Day crowds.

Another option they have to to fly out AFTER Memorial Day, but before the beginning of June.

I would appreciate any feedback that anybody could give me.

Thanks in advance!!

Check out the crowd calendars on easywdw.com. It looks like the week right after labor day might be slightly less crowded.

I don't think there would be an appreciable difference in the crowds for either week. Crowds won't dissipate until late August.

If they flew out on the 21st, they'd also be there for 24-hour day at MK, in case that's a draw for them :)

One thing to consider is the 24 hours of Disney will be the 22nd of May. The MK will open at 6 AM on Friday and closes at 6 AM Saturday. It reopens at 9 AM Saturday and is open until midnight - with EMH until 2 AM for resort guests. A lot of people love it. It is not a hard ticket event and every report I have seen says the park is pretty empty the first five or six hours.

Here is a short thread with some information.

Here is a link to the program from last year for an idea of what goes on.

We are arriving Sunday the 24th and I'm expecting the crowds to be about the same.

We went last year arriving on Memorial day and I was expecting large crowds. It wasn't bad at all, I was very pleased. I would say it was moderate crowds. We went to Epcot on Memorial day and had no trouble with crowds. We did try to go with easywdw crowd calendar to avoid crowds.

Go when she gets out of school and you will have a blast. The travel days you have listed are almost identical to what we had last year and we had an amazing time. The 24 hour event was awesome and we did a water park for Memorial Day. A lot of schools still aren't out at that time yet, and with it being close to the end of the school year a lot of parents seem reluctant to pull their kids early. We did everything we wanted to do (some multiple) and that would be the week I would always pick if I was the only one factoring in the vacation days.

The conventional wisdom is that crowds build from mid-May up until July 4th week (due to varying waves of schools ending), and then begin to ease off into late July and August (as schools begin their new years). Memorial Day seems like a pretty good day upon which to begin a vacation.

I would probably do the last week of May, but the 24hr event would help me with that decision. We are actually going the first week of June this year and I am pretty nervous about the crowds.

I agree, we always go last week of May into the first week of June and the difference in crowds is negligible.
