Here's installment one! My sister (a CM at Downtown Disney) is usually in there, but a lot of the time I was on my own.
Disney World Trip Day 1 ~ 10/16
Cast: Beth (31) ~ the actual traveler
Andrea (26) ~ my sister who works at WDW
Guest appearance by Stephannie, Andrea's roommate!
After setting anything that could be set in my house and waking up before any of them went off, I left for O'Hare at 4am. The plane left pretty much on schedule ~ with a little bonus...apparently there were several no-shows or cancellations as I have my side of my row totally to myself when it was showing full when I self checked in! Add that to the added leg room on coach on American and I was a happy camper!! The flight actually got in early and as I was getting on the shuttle at the airport to get from the terminal to the rest of it, she called to say she was having difficulty finding a parking place, but then decided that she had found one and would meet me rather than drive around and around and around waiting on my bag to get in. It arrived, she appeared, and we were off to her apartment to let me change (it was 34 degrees when I left Chicago, so I needed to get into shorts) and so she could get my ticket! Then it was off to Coronado Springs!
We got everything squared away at the front desk and headed off to Casitas 1 to drop my stuff off. Wait ~ did I say we got things squared away? Someone was still staying in the room (and this was after 11, so it wasn't that he was being automatically checked out!)...though thankfully he was not in the room when we opened the door (guess they had to recode the room for him!). So it was back to the house phone we'd seen at the Palm Court elevators to call the front desk. I was connected with Ralph, I assume a supervisor or manager...he was very nice at any rate, and he reassigned me to Casitas 3 (I didn't care as long as it was non-smoking AND unoccupied!!) and sent a bellman over with the new key. As it turned out, I was slightly upgraded to a water-view room as the lion fountain was directly outside my room...so that was a nice surprise! Unpacked enough stuff to make it obvious someone was staying there, and it was off to MGM!
First on the agenda was lunch! Since the Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time appeared to have enormous waits, we opted for the commissary. Then on to the rides!! First up, Muppet Vision 3-D. Timed it beautifully and walked right in (missed the pre-show, but it was still cool!)! :0) Next ~ Tower of Terror! Again, a walk up! (There were people all over the sidewalks, but apparently they were just shopping or something!) Then Rock 'n' Roller Coaster!! My first time on it and I LOVED it! Oh ~ technical first stop was to buy a Magical Moments pin...had to have one of those!! It had placed in TOT and RnRC that it went off! Great Movie Ride followed ~ the pin went nuts when the scene was a Disney movie (Mary Poppins and Fantasia). Out just in time to see the Stars and Motor Cars Parade ~ very cute...Lilo and Stitch have the best car, IMHO! Star Tours followed, and then it was off to meet Stitch! Encountered Pluto on the way, so a picture was of course required! The Disney photographer at Stitch took an amazing picture of Andrea and me, so that became souvenir #2 at the end of the day! Next, Fantasmic!! I absolutely LOVE that show! Truly amazing and it bowls me over every time I see it! The only disappointment of the day was that I was NOT able to see Mike and Sulley. Most of the times we walked by their location they were not out, and the one time they were, we missed the end of the line by about 15 seconds! Oh well, that was the only thing "wrong" with that day, so it's all good!
After we got out of MGM, Andrea went home to get ready and then she, her roommate Stephannie and I went to Jellyrolls. I loved it, but they are spoiled to Tuesdays when a lot of CMs go and understand the concept, so they were a little disappointed. Anyway, I thought it was a lot of fun!
Then it was back to CSR for me and off to bed to prepare for another busy day!!
