Day 4 ~ 10/19
Cast: Beth (31)
Limited appearance by Andrea (26)
Magic Kingdom day ~ and yes, I know how crazy that was, but it's how the scheduling worked out. I got there about 40 minutes before opening, so I got to see the little show they do at the Main Gate about 10 minutes until 9...it was cute, but as soon as we could enter, I was off to Fantasyland! Was there in time for rope drop and made a beeline for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! I think I was the first person on it ~ no characters or anything...they must have still been at the front of the park, or else they don't have them on first rides anymore. I followed that up with rides on Cinderella's Golden Carousel, The Scary Adventures of Snow White, Peter Pan's Flight, and of course It's a Small World. I remember Dumbo from when my sister was 4, and I really don't feel a need to do that one again...but that's just my personal thing..I know there are many, many people who love it. I was able to do all of those at pretty much a walk-in pace...a tine wait for Peter Pan, and simply waiting for the carousel to finish it's run. Then I went over to Space Mountain and waited maybe 5 minutes. Trust me...this pace does NOT continue through the day! It is Saturday, remember?
After that, I went to Mickey's Toontown Fair, which I'd never done before. I did some of the character things...saw Cinderella and had a picture taken with her ~ Suzy and Pearla were there too, but I'd already had my picture done with them at DAK on Thursday. Pictures with Tigger and Pooh...Tigger was all shy and stuff because I was wearing my Tigger shirt (not the precious one from DAK..."Tigger, is that you?" but just a regular old gray Tigger shirt from The Disney Store), so it was really cute! Then went to see Mickey, but that picture didn't come out that well (I had the photographer there take it...one of those see it before you leave things. Several came out well...the one with Stitch from MGM, one with Mickey at DAK and the one with Tigger from Toontown...so I wouldn't totally go against having them taken!) so I knew part of what I was doing the next day.
After pictures, it was Splash Mountain and BTMRR. Each wait was about 30 minutes or so. I didn't get overly soaked on Splash Mountain...got more wet from the splash as another boat went down the hill. But it was fun. BTMRR was different in the daytime after having done it at night during Not-So-Scary...not bad, but you definitely get a different perspective at night. Then I went off on my search for a Dole Whip! All I have to say is YUM!! I loved it!!
I caught the last part of Cinderella's Surprise Celebration and went in search of lunch. CRT was so booked they weren't taking any walk ups for lunch. (I found out later that they did have early seatings at dinner, and if I'd stayed to ask I would have snacked and gone for dinner, but that's something to save for another trip!! Any excuse to go back ~ besides seeing my sister, I mean!!) Tony's was pretty booked, and the guy in front of me didn't speak much English and was totally NOT understanding that there were no spaces for 5 for lunch, and I was getting hungry and didn't feel like waiting to see if her "booked up" meant for that size party or for everyone...there could have been space for one, but it was fine. I ended up going to Liberty Tree Tavern and found it to be really good! I got the Old Glory ~ their hamburger. I know, not very exotic, but it was the best hamburger I've had on property (granted they've all been at counter service places). It was really juicy and cooked the way I like it...well done but not dried out! Yum!
Then I staked out my place for the Share a Dream Come True parade ~ right on the circle where the Partner's statue is facing the castle. The parade was cute, but based on the comments by the narrator on the promotional video I guess I was expecting a little more. After it was over, I wandered around and was going to go on the Haunted Mansion, but the line was saying 30 minutes but looked a lot longer, so I decided to Fast Pass it. As I was in line for a kiosk, one of the many British visitors said that her party had an extra one and gave it to me. So while I was waiting, I went on the TTA for something to do sitting down. Then I went back to the castle to see all of Cinderella's Surprise Celebration. It was really cute and I really recommend taking the time to see it.
Then it was the Haunted Mansion. After that I was going to wander around for a while, but the decent places for SpectroMagic were all going quickly, so I found a spot on the curb just down from the cinema on Main Street where there was enough room for myself and Andrea if she decided to brave the crowds and could get in! She did get there about 20 minutes before it started, so we saw SpectroMagic and then went to the Plaza restaurant for something to eat before the fireworks. I liked SpectroMagic (first time seeing that one too), but being a child of the Main Street Electric Parade, that's always going to have a special place in my heart and memory. We found an awesome spot for seeing Tinkerbell fly...in the circle where I'd sat for Share a Dream but to the right of the castle and a little bit back. Andrea knows just about every great spot and she said it was the best for Tink that she'd ever found. We were to the right-ish side of the castle, so we didn't have a great view of the fireworks that were down low (thank you tree!), but it was still a magical end to a great day at the Magic Kingdom.
Once we finally baby stepped our way out of the park, we hopped the monorail to the TTC and she drove me back to CSR so we could pick up the Belle and Beast doll set she bought at MGM and had delivered to the resort in my name (don't know why we didn't think about just having it sent to the front of the park, but it all worked out and was all good). After she left, I went to the Dig Site pool to relax. The hot tub was great, but a little crowded and there was a child trying to swim and splashing everywhere (yeah, parents were there, but they seemed more interested in how the little darling was doing with his swimming to notice that people were leaving because they did not go to the hot tub to be splashed), but it was still nice. The slide at the theme pool was closed, but the pool theming was great! Only problem was that either the heat hadn't been turned on in the pool or it wasn't working because it was a tad chilly! It was fun ad relaxing, though. Then it was back to the room to pack and plan out my last day. :0(
