Bethenny Getting Married

It's funny cause I like Bethanny but the show irked me at first. Now, I enjoy it. Although I'm frankily confused about the nurse, Gina: Giving a nursing mom a beer??? I remember my doctor concerned about me breast feeding after I worked out (I went back to teaching aerobics a month after my daughter was born). The doctor and I were concerned about lactic acid or my milk would taste funny (didn't matter, my daughter didn't seem to mind). I have never heard of drinking a beer to help breast feeding. Anyone else find that strange? Or am I crazy? (Actually I am crazy).:cutie:

I love Bethenny....she looks just like my best friend. I love her sense of humor....I can be like that as well, and a lot of people don't get me, so I find a sense of belonging when I watch Bethenny. And I LOVE Jason....what a down to earth guy....just a really nice guy....love him! I'm glad that she found such a nice guy, she needs someone like him, someone that pretty much grew up opposite of how she did. She needs a really stable force in her life for once, and Jason and Bryn are that for her!

Nope, I've heard of it before. Don't forget that they nurse is from somewhere else. Other cultures have different customs/beliefs/socially acepted traditions. I think it's some idea of the malt and hops in the beer being a good booster. I actually don't think one beer would hurt. Might give the baby indigestion, but hey obiviously works back home on the island.

I was actually a little more worried about the margarita, but I know she was pumping so Jason and the nurse could feed her as well. I figure it'd take 6-8 hours for the tequilla to leave her system and if Bryn was drinking bottles that night it wouldn't be a problem if she pumped and dumped that nights milk.

As a past nursing mom, alcohol will increase your milk supply....so drinking a beer will increase her supply and depending on 'new mom' she is about it, 1 beer won't hurt the baby.....tequilla is another story!!!!! For a beer I would not 'pump and dump' but then again I don't like beer anyway!

Fenugreek, an herbal supplement will also help, but the pills smell terrible, and I really didn't have issues with my milk supply once I learned to pump after most feedings (and store the extra.).
