Best/youngest age for Nintendo DS Lite

We have two in our house and children ranging from 8 to 3. All of them do well with it and have no problem using the stylus. The youngest prefers to play mini games. They also have LMAXs which use a stylus touch screen interface which they enjoy playing and it has a lot more educational games. As far as taking care of the game and its parts that depends on the childs personality more then his/her age.
