I'm just wondering if anyone wants to share their best and worst table service restaurants dealing with food allergies? We've always stuck to the same few and would like to try something different for our next trip. I do shy away from counter service, so only table service please. Thanks.

This is tough as it often depends on the chef you get. Most places are fine.

My favorite overall has been Le Cellier - for consistency. We have always had good luck with Biergarten. Teppan Edo seemed very careful. Crystal Palace has been excellent.

Hands down the best chef on the property for those with food allergies is Chef TJ - who is currently at O'Hana. If you can find out if he is there for when you are able to make a ressie then you are set. I called the Poly about a week before and they were able to confirm he would be there. They told me he most often takes off on Sun and Mon.

Hmm...forgot to add my worst. I would avoid Mexico - I felt quite uncomfortable there. Our worst experience was Chef Mickey's but that was due to the chef we got. Later experiences with the chef (when ordering QS next door - a different chef) was very positive.

Mexico would be on my list NOT to visit- Morrocco wasn't too helpful either.

Japan is so careful:) and so good:)

Crystal Palace- had only 1 issue with a chef in all my visits

for resorts: Ohana's NEVER a problem- Chef mickey's has good days and bad days depending on the chef. I have never had a problem at any value food courts either. every time we have stayed at a mod we eat breakfast someplace else so I can't help there.

I have had issues with Rainforest but never with T- Rex. T Rex seemed very helpful and sent out a chef.- Never happened at rain forest.

There are very few places I HAVEN'T eaten at at WDW and I guess it depends on your allergy, But I haven't had many issues at all. Some times all I get is grilled chicken and rice but no issues.

for the first time ever at Wolfgang pucks express last week I had no problems in speaking to a chef- maybe they do read the Dis about WPE not being good for allergies :goodvibes

Prime time 50's was super as was sci fi

We don't normally eat at AK - the one time we went to Tusker house they were very helpful and the chef made a wonderful meal for me.

We have had the opposite experience. The chef from Ohana's 2 years ago was actually the worst. He called and left a message on our hotel phone just a few hours before our meal telling us not to come to Ohana's as they were not going to accomidate my allergies. This was Labor day weekend and getting another ressie was impossible.

The best meals we have had for the last 4 years have been at Chef Mickeys! Chef Robert is the best! He is now at GF.

I can't speak to the other chefs at O'Hana's - Chef TJ was at Boma 2 years ago. It really does greatly depend on the chef you get at ANY of the restaurants.

I will second the recommendation for T-Rex. I expected little and was VERY pleasantly surprised that they sent out the chef and he seemed very "with it" on food allergies. I will definitely go back there.:thumbsup2

My worst was Chefs de France at Epcot. I've since learned that it's not Disney owned. I now make a point of only eating at Disney owned restaurants. I cancelled a reservation in Morocco for this reason. We also skip Rain Forest Cafe and T-Rex for this same reason (I will go to Rain Forest Cafe at home on occasion but when I'm at WDW, I want the full WDW food allergy treatment). The restaurant at CSR was also lacking in typical WDW options though the chef did definitely try to come up with options. He just didn't have the same stuff on hand that WDW owned restaurants have (it's also not owned by WDW).

We've had great experiences for both breakfast and dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Cape May's breakfast has been terrific too. Our Akershus dinner was also one of our favourites (I think we ended up bringing pretty much a full meal back to our hotel in leftovers because our daughter practically filled up on the huge fruit platter with specially made GFCF chocolate chip muffins just as the appetizer).

50's Prime Time Diner was great the first time we were there but just mediocre the second time. I think it was more the waiter than the chef, plus we were already pretty annoyed at having to wait 1.5 HOURS for our table. Yes, we had an ADR. Everybody was waiting that long. With an autistic child, waiting that long to eat is a nightmare. Overall, I'm not impressed with the DHS restaurants. I don't plan to make any future ADRs at DHS. The Fantasmic package seems to be pointless these days as you have to show up so far ahead of time even with it and there's no way my autistic child can wait that long. It wasn't issues with the food allergies, we just found the restaurants in general to be more mediocre in comparisson to the other meals we've had around WDW.

Our absolute BEST experience was the food court at Pop Century. I know that may seem surprising, but they just bent over backwards for us. The head chef even ordered in some foods especially for us as we had talked ahead of time about how we'd be eating at least 1 meal there each day, with some days eating 2 meals there. The chef even came out to our table to chat with us a couple of times and gave our girls special pins that are meant for CMs to give out to guests when they see something special. We really got the royal treatment there.

I won't rename the ones already mentioned , but we never had a problem at Rain Forest. The Plaza in MK has always been Great. I wish I could remember the last chef we had there in Nov. He went above and beyond. It was great. He said he was mention on Mom's blog of NJ.
No problem at Rose and Crown, Great service at Tutto Italia.
MaMa Melrose is terrific too.
I think that's all I can add. What kind of allergies is there.

Thanks for all your great replies. My DD8 has severe tree nut, shellfish, sesame and we avoid mango.

I've been leary to try counter service since the buns are always the problem and the cross contamination of the fryers. She'd actually rather me just bring her a sandwich which works out.

The only counter I used in the past was the McDonald's at Epcot because I knew that was safe. Now I think that's even gone.

If anyone has any other suggestions, keep them coming.

My younger son has peanut/tree nut and shellfish - so somewhat similar - he is anaphylactic to those. I was impressed with some of the counter service we got this time - they seemed really on top of things at a couple of places - ABC Commissary at MGM and Pizzafari at AK. Instead of handing me the big book of all ingredients in everything the manager talked to me and seemed knowledgeable in those places. Electric Umbrella was bad - I'm not even going to go into it except to say that the manager was dumber than a doornail and rude to boot.

We have no problems with the buns (but maybe that is the sesame allergy?). We have not had a problem with contaminated fryers with his allergies either. He sticks with things like pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken, etc. He was able to have the battered fish at ABC Commissary and the cheese/ham wrap. Those places also had Divvies.

My DH has a nut and mushroom allergy and we have never had any problems at any table service (including the Moroccan - one of his favs.) The best service we have had though was at california grill and grand floridian cafe.

My son has peanut/tree nut and sesame thankfully all has been good. Just talk, talk, talk to everyone.

They do have tapioca rolls available for gluten free maybe those would be better than regular as to allergies?

also there are places that you can get BAKED fries to avoid cross contact

I have a list somewhere- Will look it up and re-post:)
