I did not even do Orange on Mission Space. And Stephen just confirmed I made the right decision

Steve, I agree completely about the American Adventure. Glad to hear someone else say it!

I thought their list was pretty spot-on. I only have two differences of opinion(both with Steve, actually...)

-I wouldn't have put American Adventure on that list. I think it could use an update, but I love that last montage, set to that "Golden Wings" song. It's sappy and melodramatic and I love it anyway. If ANYTHING needs to be COMPLETELY overhauled at the American pavilion, it's the restaurant. Seriously? There are so many different types of dishes that are unique to different areas of the country(or even different cities in the States.....a Philly cheesesteak? Chicago deep dish pizza? Texas barbecue? A New England lobster roll?), it's pathetic that Liberty Inn is a standard, generic burgers/nuggets place. That's the part of the pavilion that ticks me off.

-The other disagreement is actually with something Steve said under his breath....I happen to think that Cosmic Ray's in MK is pretty good. I don't know if it's because the food is actually GOOD, or if the menu is just different from the standard burgers/nuggets place so that it SEEMS better than it actually IS. I think it's probably the latter moreso than the former. But it's a place I usually try to hit up if I'm at the TL end of the park around mealtime.

Other than that, I couldn't find anything on their list to disagree with. And I really liked Steve's idea for Innoventions. I know people like to speculate on what Walt would think about certain things about WDW, but I am pretty sure that Walt would be seriously ticked that the Innoventions space is just sitting there unused, considering its original intent and its location in Future World.

One question for the group (so obviously expecting inconsistent answers) but the episode is the "Top 5 Worst Epcot overrated things" ... but it wasn't clear if they were picking their top 5 worst things or their top 5 over rated things.

For example, the American Adventure - a lot of people skip over it so in now way can I see it being Over rated ... now if you just don't like it I can see that though

Yeah, these "overrated" episodes always seem to get "overrated" confused with "worst". And it's a tricky balance.

I don't think many people think of American Adventure as "bad". But overrated? Sure, I could see that.

But Universe of Energy? That's not overrated, because I've yet to see someone who loves(or even really, really likes) it. It's just bad.

Just my opinion, of course. But I'm right.

I love American Adventure, it has the most comfortable chairs to nap in.

I love the American Adventure, it's my second favorite thing at Epcot. But the first time I ever went to it my dad and brother both fell asleep and snored very loudly. I left them there when the show was over lol

So did want to add that I fully disagree with the hate that Oliver and Steve were throwing at Figment. The ride, in it's current form is bad, I get that - but the character itself is great and represents a figment of your imagination and what can come from "one little spark" and is so fitting for WDW and all that game from a "Spark" that Walt had

And I do recognize that I have a personal attachment as when we visited when I was a kid Figment became my favorite and the one Disney stuffed animal I had ... but to say about him, the one original EPCOT character who has lasted since the beginning, that he needs to just totally begone I find ludicrous. Rather than jettison him they should revamp the attraction to something worthy of the character

Does EPCOT need an overhaul

Absolutely. Future World needs a major facelift. Though I'm not sure they can do anything too major with all of the construction going on at Hollywood Studios at the moment.

I wouldn't exactly call it Steve's idea, though! When I first visited EPCOT in 1987 that's what was there. It was a "house of the future" and featured such incredible advances like window blinds that opened and closed automatically. Or was it glass that darkened and lightened? I can't remember. I'm sure that every one of those "Innoventions" is available now, controlled by your smartphone. Which, strangely enough, they did NOT predict. Ha!

I loved EPCOT when it was "boring" and educational. The Universe of Energy show was wonderful then! Same for the Living Seas. Of course, I was a newly minted STEM college graduate and geeked out over it all. It was also my first trip to Disney and I was blown away in general. People are so hard to impress these days. It's really a different world now.

I think cosmic rays is actually good for a counter service meal. Also Mouse Gear in Epcot has a variety of different items that is not in Disney springs or the emporia on main street in the MK. Of all the things that need up dating in Epcot Mouse Gear is not one of them .

VERY well put, and I TOTALLY echo everything you said (and admire HOW you said it!), Phil!

Totally agree here. The ride may be less than stellar but it's not Figment's fault. He just needs a better ride so he can shine. Maybe something based on the Marvel comics about him.

But hey Oliver is a Brit who doesn't like Dr Who so we can't really trust his opinion can we? ;)

I totally agree. The reason behind Figment's creation doesn't come through much in the current form. One of the best descriptions to me comes from Ron Schneider's book From Dreamer to Dreamfinder" (which he reads in the audiobook version and there is some singing and quoting of the original ride and song by the man who played Dreamfinder in the park from 1982-1986 I believe and is absolutely wonderful) "Dreamfinder and Figment represent the two halves of the human mind; Dreamfinder is the practical, experienced, educated left side of the brain, whereas Figment represents the impulsive, wild, childlike right side. Together they'll host a spectacular trip through the creative process... and they'll be the only Disney characters in EPCOT center."
Of course, I'm right with you in the sentiment area, since I met the duo when I first visited at age 4 (that's my avatar) and I did just quote Dreamfinder in a Disney job application a few weeks ago... A revamp to return Figment to his original purpose would be perfect.
