Best/Worst Rehab

AND .. while I like Test Track enough, I miss World of Motion
I think Mission Space is a HORRIBLE replacement for Horizons.I also miss Mr Toads Wild Ride and 20,000 Leagues under the sea, but since these rides were essentially replaced or obliterated I guess it doesn't count

Agree with all of this. Would also like to add that I am still very angry at the getting rid of Snow White's Scary Adventure. I get that there is going to be a mine train ride for the dwarfs, but why did they have to get ride of Snow White's Scar adventure? Where is it written that there can only be one ride per movie per park?

I can't believe in our 4 visits to Epcot, we never went into the Imaginations! building! Must have just been out of the way enough that we didn't do it.

So is it worth going in? I there anything else worth looking at, if the
'Journey into Imagination with Figment" is that bad? ...and I certainly don't want to see Captian EO.

We always do JII even though it's a stripped down version and is no where close to the original. Although this current version is not at all as horrible as the Journey into Your Imagination - that was pure crap. If you want to see what you're going to get, there's some good videos up on YouTube. We still ride it because I adore Figment and am terrified one day they'll just get rid of JII and the Imagination Pavilion all together. I don't think it's something that is too terrible to miss, it's just not as amazing as it used to be. Try it once and judge for yourself. ImageWorks afterwards is okay (again not at all as expansive as it used to be), but if you have little ones, it can keep them occupied for a little bit. The ride itself isn't long - it's a good spot to cool down and sit for a bit.

My best is Star Tours. A true upgrade in story and technology.

Worst: Captain EO for Honey I Shrunk the Audience

Worst: The new Mexico ride with Donald. Unbelievably bad.

That's a great choice as well. Last December was my first time trying it out in its new version. Yuk. It doesn't say/tell anything about Mexico anymore. Wasn't that the original purpose?

Thanks for all the great replies too, everybody!!

NOTE: Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is a new ride. It's in the same universe as the original, but it's a seperate ride.

Agree totally! But don't get me started on what they've done to EPCOT. That needs a whole thread by itself.

20kLUtS will always hold a special place in my memory. First ride I ever rode, WAY BACK in '76.

Princess124 about said it all. I still go because I'm a Figment fan, but as I travel through the dark, empty spaces I remember what used to be there and it makes me sad.

Imagination and PotC are among the top on my list of worsts. I like the PotC movies, the mist waterfall is neat, and the last room of the new version has great animatronics. I find JS's other ride appearances annoying though, and I miss the song at the begining an the skull near the drop. It annoys me when folks point, talk, and TAKE PHOTOS the first time they see Jack.

Ohh! congrats! You found him. Now please be quiet, and PLEASE no flash photos!

The ride did not need the added commercial tie-in, and the impact on guest behavior is horrible.

Anohter rehab I dislike is the Land. the tuna salad is good, but I miss the old decor, the veggie lasagna, and the Mickey pasta of yore! Ooh, wish I could get some of that veggie lasagna! It ws the best QS meal in Epcot; maybe all four parks.

I also rank the HM among the best. I love the new preshow.

Stitch is a miss. The earlier versions of that attraction were better.

I like Buzz, but I miss "If you Had Wings...." I agree though that Buzz could use a little technology upgrade.

The new Spiderman upgrade is pretty neat...oh wait, wrong park.

Oh - one of the BEST and WORST rehabs is the Tiki Room. I'm so glad they brought back the original show!!!!! So much better than the Iago version! It was horrible.

Agree 100%. The food is still great, IMHO, but I too really miss the old decor. Regarding food, they used to have a seafood salad wrap that I miss like you miss the lasagna.

With all the various rehabs/refurbs going on, I was wondering what everyone thought was the best refurb and the worst.

Best: Haunted Mansion. This is my number one, most favorite ride at WDW. I was very concerned when I heard they would be working on it. Well, after my trip last December, I have to say I was amazed at what they had done. I really like the new queu. I think everything they did there was fantastic. I believe all the new additions to the ride itself were in keeping with the spirit of the original. And two thumbs up to the imagineers for the new hitchhiking ghosts! That really blew me away.

Worst: Imagination. This is a burned out shell of the original ride. The interim ride was just worthless. That was the first time, EVER, that I have gone up to the nearest CM to complain about what had been done to the ride. I was told I wasn't alone in my opinion and they encouraged me to visit GS and complain, which I promptly did. Why, why, why?? If you've experienced the original, you know what an experience it was. The various rooms were quite beautiful and the entire ride accomplished its intent: to make you use your imagination. IMHO, it was one of the best dark rides and they absolutely gutted it.
I pretty much agree with this. I never went on the original version of either ride, but I've seen videos/pictures/etc. I'm really bummed I didn't get to go on the original Imagination ride.

I like having Jack in the attraction, but yes this drives me nuts. Though the massive amount of people taking flash pictures on PotC is one of my pet peeves in general.

They actually brought back the orignial show? Oh. I thought they still had the Iago version there, shame. It was down for maintenance when I was last there so maybe I'll get to see it next time I'm there.

As for everyone else I agree with everything that's been said in this thread. I didn't know that the Haunted Mansion had been refurbed before going on my trip but after finding out now it I'm pleased to say that they've done a superb job on the rehab as all.

I've never riden on either version of JIL but I am aware of the ride being refurbished even before joining this forum and I have seen footage of the new version but it was a long time ago since I've seen it I maybe wrong ofcourse but isn't the new JIL just plain rooms and TV screens? And I'm sure Eric Idle plays the Dreamfinder here or atleast the voice of the Dreamfinder? I don't know it's been a long time since I've seen the footage for this ride like I've said.

Yes they brought it back, and IMO, thank goodness. You should certainly check it out if you have the time. Its not super high on my list of attractions, but for nostalgia's sake, I usually try to see it while I'm there.

Going with Haunted Mansion. These recent updates are spectacular! As for worst, I'm going with the Peoplemover. The new voice is annoying.

Agreed with Haunted Mansion

Yes, that voice is not growing on me either!
Imagination is still a big letdown for me as well.

I was unaware of HM rehab! When did this take place? We haven't been to WDW since October 2010. Where can I learn more about this rehab? Im not going to tell my kids so they will be surprised!

Speaking of Imagination...the other day I saw on epcyclopedia that they had a story about Epcot's Millennium Celebration and they posted the press release that Disney issued back in 2000 about the event. Check it out:

At the new Future World pavilion, Imagination!, presented by Kodak, guests on Journey Into Your Imagination expand their own imaginations in a ride-through adventure of sights, sounds and senses. Rooms turn upside down and normal turns inside out as guests are challenged to increase their I.Q. — Imagination Quotient.
That sounds more interesting then what I remember riding when I was there in 2000, lol.

Best: Definitely HM

Worst: Most definitely Journey and also Spaceship Earth and TTA...there was NOTHING wrong with that old spiel.
