Best & Worst Hotels

I have two reservations for October this year. The first one is at Marriott's Cypress Harbor Timeshare, right across from Sea World, and the second is at Holiday Inn Family Suites. Now the timeshare is supposed to be approx. 1345 sq. feet., 2 bdrm, 2 bath and newly renovated. I have read all of your suggestions and heard good things about HI Family Suites. Don't know which one to stick with. Both cost about the same. Any suggestions from the pros? Thanks.

Marriott without a doubt!

There really is no comparison. The Marriott is a first class resort with all the bells and whistles, and with 1345 square feet of space, it's more than double what the HIFS offers. The HIFS is better than a hotel room but cannot compare to what a timeshare property, especially one by Marriott offers.

We are staying at Cypress Harbour Presidents week and it looks absolutely beautiful. I have also read all the reviews on TUG and it seems this is one of the top timeshares in Orlando.

We stayed at HIFS a couple of years ago and would never go back. I realize I am in the minority--- but we were so cramped with 5 of us. It did not feel like a "suite" and certainly not spacious.... more like a very small apartment. There are people who love this property but we were not impressed with the housekeeping, size of accommodations, front desk etc. On the upside, the pool was great and the breakfast was convenient.

Since we have started staying in condos, I'm not sure I'd want to go back to a hotel.

Thanks for all the great advice. We were recommended by friends of ours who already own a Marriott timeshare. We got a really good deal, too. We originally booked it thinking we were going to stay at the Grande Vista resort, but come to find out this past week that the reservation is really at Crystal Harbour They claim that Grande Vista is being remodeled and that a 2 bdrm condo is not available at our requested time. So, they will put us up at Crystal Harbour which they said has just been totally refurbished from new sheet rock to appliances. Which raises the question of WHY ? Jenn, I would love to hear from you after your visit. I would like to ask our friends who recommended us, but I'm not sure I will get an honest answer since they really want us to purchase so that they will receive their points. Know what I mean?

You are referring to Cypress Harbour? You said "Crystal" Harbour a couple of times so just checking to be sure.

We will be back on the 22nd. We are staying at CH for a week and then 2 nights at the Hard Rock just for fun. I'll post when I get back and let you know how it was.

I'm confused about all the refurbishment also.... I know this is a top notch resort. It is ten years old though, so they are probably redoing some units. I've haven't stayed in a bad Marriott yet so I'm keeping the faith!

Sorry, it's Cypress not Crystal. Please excuse me, I'm not working on all cylinders today. At least I know 1 person who is paying attention to what I'm saying today.

I look forward to seeing your post on the boards. Will it be a new one or just add onto the hotels thread? Don't forget, I'm new at this.
