Was wondering what you all found as the best and the worst counter service places at Disney Studios? As I'm doing the Magic Your Way dining plan, was just trying to see where the good places were and where the one's I should avoid are.

Thanks in advance for your help.

We prefer to eat sit down meals at Disney Studios because there are no really great counter service spots. Cataline Eddie's and Pizza Planet aren't bad.

Our favorite counter: Back Lot Express. Good burgers and toppings bar, lots of seating in different rooms with props. Only one we eat at.

BUT overall I think the park is lacking in good counter food. If it works into your plans/hours, I would do a sit down meal or leave the park for dinner. We really enjoyed Mama Melrose.

IMHO, DS is really lacking in the counter service area. Backlot Express seems to be the best choice but then there really isn't that much to choose from :sad2:

Both the ABC Commissary and the Studio Catering Company have some really interesting menu options that you won't find anywhere else, which is always appreciated after days of the same thing in our family. You can check out the menus and see if anything looks good to you. Have a great time! :cool1: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

ABC Commissary was horrible. How can you ruin a burger and chicken nuggets. Well never again!! We are sticking to TS there. We are going to Mama Melrose and to H&V in August.

I agree, we always plan a sit down at MGM. The counter serves were never that good.

I would avoid ABC Commissary at all costs. Backlot Express isn't too bad.

Stay away from toy story pizza planet. Pizza there is gross!!! :crazy2: We ended up feeding ours to the birds. And we aren't picky we ate at, at least 2 counter service places at each park and never had any problems with any other place.

We like pizza planet. Hey you can get a salad!
Kids love it if they like toy story! :earsboy:

Studio Catering Company was REALLY good - but you have to like Middle Eastern food.

We eat at Backlot every trip. I also ate pizza from the foodstand across the street from where you get in line to see Fantasmic, but I would only eat there at night because there is only outdoor seating.

ABC comm... it took them 35 minutes to make 3 burgers and 2 fries along with 3 cokes...WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE :scared1:

The burgers were like cardboard and cold by time we got them...NEVER AGAIN.

Thanks everyone for your input. We found it difficult to find a decent CS place there when we went last year. Actually, the only good place we found was Starring Rolls. I plan on having an early dinner at the 50's one night before Fantasmic, but other than that, will probably dine outside of that park.

Thanks again!!!

the line at the commissary can stretch for miles- in our experience, pizza planet is much less crowded, plus there's a fun arcade to play around in

We didn't like Pizza Planet at all. The cheese on the pizza tasted odd, I can't think of any better way to describe it. We are not picky eaters but I would not go back.

I had hoped to try either Starring Rolls Bakery or Studio Catering Company whilst on the dining plan, but neither one is listed on the brochure as participating. If unable to go there, I suppose we could try ABC Commissary.
