I know there are threads regarding the "best bang for your buck" for the Disney Dining Plan. Can we discuss about those restaurants/dinner shows that take 2 TS credits? Which one really worth 2 credits and which one better pay out of pocket? Flying Fish Café
California Grill
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
Mickey's Backyard BBQ
Citricos
Narcoossee's
Disney's Spirit of Aloha
Artist Point
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Brown Derby
& Coral Reef

We used 2TS credits for dinner at Cal. Grill (2 adults, 1 seven-year old) and found it to be totally worth the use of the credits! We assumed, for example, that by ordering the approx. $26 sushi plate appetizer that it would count as "the" appetizer for both adults, but server said, no, that's one appetizer so you can order another. We all chose the entrees that we really wanted (NOT nec. the most expensive), etc., and found that we'd MORE than made up the use of the credits.

Note that we did also dine, without using DP credits, at Artist's Point, Brown Derby, and Coral Reef and paid OOP, because we did determine (based on checking actual menus and deciding what we'd have) that it would NOT be worth the use of 2 credits each.... All this from trip during first week of Dec. '05.

Here is a link to fairly current menus (with prices) for every place to eat at WDW, from V&A down to the food kiosks. For the table service or buffet be sure to add in 6.5% sales tax plus your typical gratuity, unless (such as HDDR) it says they are included.

And we had a lovely meal that I would have never spent $140 on. (We just dont have that kind of a dining budget! :earseek: ) We left DD at neverland club so we had to pay the $30 some dollars for that but it was a great night out! We looked at it as something we wont do again for a very long time and it was a dining experience for us! Good luck with your choices!

If you're eating at Brown Derby to take advantage of the Fantasmic! package, I believe it's well worth it to pay out of pocket and save the credits there. The FP is only $37/adult and $11/child plus tax, tip & adult's beverage. Definately not worth using up 2 TS credits for this one meal. I'm going and paying out of pocket for this one.

Thank you Cheshire Figment, I have done some research, and found that using the same 2TS credits, one can pay for a dinner show at Mickey's Backyard BBQ ($39.01), hoop-dee-doo or Spirit of Aloha ($50), or dine at fancy place like Yachtsman Steakhouse which a complete three couses meal cost as much as $79. Interesting isn't it?
