We just booked four nights at Best Western Park Place inn and we were wondering if anyone has an opinion about the hotel. We have never been to Disneyland, but have been to WDW many times.

This is our favorite off-site hotel. It is the closest hotel to the park, aside from the Disney hotels. Decent rooms (we are only in there for sleep) and serves a hot breakfast next door.

Other than the uber-expensive Grand Californian, BWPPI is the closest to DL! For a non-Disney hotel, it's close, clean, have GREAT beds and a decent free breakfast. It's our go-to hotel when we go to DL! Enjoy Walt's park!

It's our favorite off-site hotel, too. The location just can't be beat! You are right at the crosswalk to DLR, and I love that as soon as we cross the street, we start hearing the music that says "We're at Disneyland!!"

The rooms are comfortable, and the mini-suites we've stayed in have all been roomier than most standard hotel rooms we've stayed in. The pool isn't anything fancy, but it's nice to have it and the kids are happy to be splashing around for a break. The breakfast is on the second floor of the restaurant next door to the hotel. It's gotten better over the years. When we first stayed there, the breakfast was a pretty basic continental spread, and the best you could say for it was it was free. The last time we stayed there, they had a lot more options available and even had a few different things each morning.

So it isn't glamorous or magical, but it is comfortable and convenient. When DS was a toddler and still taking afternoon naps, I could be back at the hotel in 10-15 minutes from just about anywhere in the parks. It was awesome to be so close! I brought so much less stuff into the parks with us because I knew we could dash back to the hotel if we did need something. Once I left the rest of the group in line for the Storybook Canal boats and ran back to the room to pick up new camera batteries. I made it back to them before they had reached the front of the line!

I heard the beds are hard.

I stayed at Desert Inn and Suites and the beds were firm. It made it hard for me to sleep at night. This was a deal breaker for me.

We are staying here in a few weeks for our first DL trip. The reviews I've read have been great. I am curious about the breakfast. Can you give me an idea of what was available. I have a picky 3 year old. I am also not planning any character breakfasts since we can save the money and eat there. We are planning Goofys for dinner one night to see characters.

It's been a year since I've been there, but as I recall, you should be fine. They have the standard yoghurt, cold cereals, instant oatmeal, toast, bagels, ham or bacon, hard boiled eggs, a variety of juices, scrambled eggs.......am I missing anything people who know? I like to make a fruit smoothy out of yoghurt and juice. I also made breakfast sandwiches with all the offerings. Think out of the box and you can make quite a variety of things for breakfast!

It's been a while since we were last there, but tallpkb gave a good overview and covered most of it. I remember that they rotated through ham, sausage and bacon when we were there, and they had both hard boiled and scrambled eggs. One morning they had biscuits and gravy, and there were always an assortment of muffins and breakfast pastries. I think there were 4 kinds of cold cereal? I do remember cheerios because that's the only kind of cold cereal DS likes. Plus there was instant oatmeal, plain bagels and cream cheese, toast & jelly, yogurt, fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, apples usually), milk, juice, tea and coffee. I can't remember if they had the waffle makers there or if I'm thinking of a different hotel on a different vacation.

I haven't seen hard boiled eggs in awhile (we were there in March and again this November). Toast, bagels, donuts, pastries, meat (bacon, sausage or maybe ham), eggs, yogurt, apples and bananas, cereal and juice. If you are there for many days, the breakfast gets old, but for a few days it is perfectly fine.

We were there in December and this is what was listed on the breakfast flyer in our room. The eggs were scrambled and themeat alternated daily between sausage and ham:

Hot Egg - Fried Potatoes - Hot Breakfast Meat
Toasted Waffle - Danish and Muffins
Bagel (White) - Cream Cheese
Oatmeal
Powered Donut
Yogurt
White or Wheat Bread - butter & jams
Fruit: Orange, Apple and Banana
Cereal: Kellogg's Fruit Loops, Raisin Bran, Frosted Flakes and Cherrios
Milk 2% & skim Milk, Coffee, Tea, Orange & Apple Juice

BWPPI has a great breakfast, the only better one IMO is at Park Vue Inn (which is just as close to DL) because of you make your own fresh waffles and they have tons of fruit and cereals as well.
You cant go wrong with either place.

Stayed there many times and never noticed hard beds.

OP, I think BWPPI is a fine choice and location cannot be beat.

Thank you for all of the replies! Looks like plenty of choices for us! He'll def eat scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and apples. We'll be good to go!

We stayed at BWPPI in June of 2010, and loved it!

One thing to consider: If you prefer midday breaks you may want to consider asking for a room away from the pool. Our room was on the 2nd or 3rd floor and overlooked the pool, which stayed pretty busy.

It really wasn't much of an issue for us, but it may be for you. :)

There are 3 rooms in the front of the hotel, over the office. You can ask for one of these rooms when you check in but it's just a matter of luck if you get one.
We got one once and it was wonderful. You can see crowds coming and going but best of all you can actually see into the park.
It's a wonderful treat if you can score one of these rooms!

Quick question on these rooms Indiana Scott, what type of rooms are these? Do you know? Thank you!

We stay here very year and I like it for the free breakfast and proximity to the parks. However, I recently emailed them to ask for the "no car" discount which they offered us last year, and they said that they only offer that now when they are UNABLE to accommodate a car. I find that confusing - if you showed up with your car expecting to be able to park for $10 a night and couldn't, I doubt a discount would do you much good. :confused3

Are these standard rooms or suites?

Also, are there ever any discounts offered? We are planning to go in December and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and book a room.

I find that this hotel books very fast. Sometimes I go to their site to check if I can get a lower rate, and it is usually all booked up! We always book using AAA for a discount. Book when you have dates set, because at least then you have a reservation!
