DH and I are planning a last minute trip at the end of August and are trying to decide between Paradise Pier and BWPPI. We normally stay at the Grand Californian and love its proximity to the parks, but we're wondering if it's worth trying Paradise Pier or staying offsite at BWPPI and saving the money for this trip. TIA!

I've never stayed at BWPPI but have been at all 3 of the onsite hotels and PPH is actually our favourite of the three!

I've stayed in both (actually on the same trip in May, 1 night at PPH bc BW was booked and we got the EE the next day on a busy weekend). The walk from BWPPI is shorter. Honestly for me the deciding factor is money. I loved the PPH, but for us the money we would save by staying at the BWPPI would be enough to pay for the hotel of a second trip so personally I'd do the BWPPI and bank the savings for our next visit. We don't have a ton of expendable money so and extra trip staying at a Good Neighbor hotel for 2 trips would win out, no questions asked.

We have stayed in both, too. BWPPI is closer and obviously cheaper, but Paradise Pier is nicer and has the Disney "feel". Plus the walk is through the Grand Californian and Downtown Disney so it is not an unpleasant walk. BWPPI does have free breakfast, which is a nice perk, even if not the fanciest. I think comparing the two I definitely prefer Paradise Pier, but BWPPI does the job, too. My family size has outgrown Paradise Pier so BWPPI is our best option now.

We've stayed at the BWPPI many times and think it's a great choice for proximity, price, and free breakfast (including hot items like eggs and sausage). We've also stayed at the Grand Californian and the Disneyland hotel, so I can tell you that if you choose BWPPI, be prepared for it really to be just a place to sleep & shower compared to staying on-site and all that magic. But for the huge price savings, it's a choice we make often! We like to spend our awake time in the parks. If you're prepared for the hotel (motel) to not be part of the "attraction" of your trip, you'll have a great time for a great cost savings!

Do a list of what's most important to you for your accommodation - being close, or the extra bit of luxury? Inside corridor, or outside? Room service and those extra touches important or not at all?

That will tell you which hotel to choose. Both those options are good, decent places to stay. But which you prefer depends entirely on your priorities.

We always stay at the BWPPI, and are booked to stay there again next month. It's nothing special, but it has free breakfast and is such a short walk to the parks!! I've never stayed at a Disney hotel in DL. For the amount of time we spend in the room, it's just not worth the extra cost to us. I guess it all depends on what is important to you! Have a great trip!!

Calculate the price difference between hotels for your stay, then calculate what you would do with that money. It might be worth it to you to stay on site and have the early entry each morning. Or it might be worth it to you to spend that money on nicer meals and souvenirs or to save it for your next trip.

We have stayed at BWPPI and loved it. If your trying to save a bit of cash then go there. IMO Paradise pier isn't worth the money. I love Disneyland hotel and the Grand but if I don't have the money to stay at those two BWPPI is our go to.

Money/DVC points is always the deciding factor whether to stay on or off property. If finances dictate, I'll always choose to stay on property. I don't know about this Best Western property but the ones I have stayed at seem to have really short ceilings. It's my least favorite hotel chain (from the ones we've stayed at).
