We've booked the Best Western Norstar Inn near the Buffalo airport. Anyone know if it is a decent place?:surfweb:

I can't help you, but I'm curious as well! We're booked in there for the night before our plane leaves. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that it's decent! I don't need the Ritz, I just want a clean bed for the night!

My parents just stayed there and they were quite happy with it. They paid $119 for the night and up to 2 weeks free parking, with shuttles to the airport. They said it was all perfectly painless to get to and from the airport, and my son (7) who was travelling with them enjoyed the bounciness of the bed. LOL

We are staying this Friday and leaving our car there for 13 days for same price as TreesyB $119. I have ordered a $100 Best Western gift card from airmiles hoping to use it to pay for the room when we arrive. I will report back.

Glad to hear good reports and please do let us know about the air miles voucher. I'd be interested in doing the same thing in September!

The last time we stayed the night before, we did the Homewood Suites by Hilton on Dick Rd. I think it was $149-$169, with a few weeks parking, hot mini buffet dinner and same for breakfast. Shuttle to the Airport were also included. It worth a check-out!

Had enough air miles to save us $100 Canadian on that $119 room! Thanks so much for the tip!!!:dance3:

I called Best Western customer service # to see how a CAD dollar gift card would be charged at a US hotel and if we can use it for park and fly rates. They told me the exchange rate is loaded on their computer system and there would be no problems...during the call 2 weeks ago it was $93US for $100CAD. Way to go Canadian$ ! As for the park and fly, as long as it is not a prepaid reservation you are OK using the card. I booked it online directly with Best Western. Let's hope for the best.

Question re:shuttle for those who are back. Did you have to make a reservation for the bus in the morning the night before? I assume many are taking SW 7:30am flight so it would be a busy time.

Arrived Friday Aug 3 evening at 7:30pm after 45minutes wait at the Peace bridge. Never doing long weekend border crossing again:mad: Best Western was busy with lots of people coming and going but no wait for check in. We got stuck with a ground floor room. Smells a bit stale/musky but everything was clean. Good enough for one night sleep but I would not let my 3 year old crawl on the floor! Just give them your gift card when you check in and they will call to confirm the amount and apply it to your room charge. We paid $41US extra on top of the $100CAD gift card. At this time they will schedule your shuttle for the next morning. The extended white van can fit 8-10 people leaving every 15 minutes. The airport is almost across the street from the long term parking lot. You will be given a tag for your rear view mirror and was told to park in the peripheral areas of the property. Saw some cars parked on the grassy area almost onto next door's property. Must leave car key with the front desk. Chocolate chip cookies at the front desk, oranges and apples-fruit bowl and compl. hot beverages in the breakfast area during the day. Breakfast is served starting at 4:30am-Dry cereal, hard boiled eggs, croisssant, english muffins, cakey donuts, make your own waffles, bananas, coffee, tea, orange/cranberry/apple-juice. Small eating area with 3 tables for 4 and 3 tables for 2. Line ups for the one waffle maker-but worth the wait yum! Shuttle was extremely punctual in the morning. Pickup from the airport was also easy, phone from the luggage pickup area and wait outside to the right. We just missed the van on our way out; but it came back again in less than 10minutes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for reporting back on the hotel! Sounds like a good deal, I am happy to hear we will be able to grab some breakfast that early!

Hope you had a great trip!

How long did it take you to get your card?

Thanks for the review! It's great to hear. We don't need delux accomodations, just something relatively clean that will shuttle us to the plane. :) We got a king room on travelocity that came out to about $80 CAD with the service fees and stuff. Can't complain about that!

How many airmiles for the giftcard? I'd check online myself, but dh is the account holder for the airmiles card and hasn't given me the password...grrr!

710 airmiles for $100CAD Best Western gift card.

Sometimes I see the card on special if you are a gold member for about 685. If your trip is not soon, I would wait and check the airmile site periodically.
