Dd(2 1/2),Dw and I booked for the weekend of 10/26. Thoughts, ideas, shuttles(?) and overall impressions of this off-site facility. This is our annual wedding anniversary(10/20) jaunt down to Disney. A quickie this year(lol)!

My friend was recently down in Disney and wanted to stay an extra night but when she asked at the front desk they said that there weren't any value rooms open for the next night (April).
Well... as all of my friends and family know that I'm a Disney freak she called me and I got her a room at Best Western Lakeside for the night.
They LOVED it! Trust me, my friend was 8 months pregnant at the time with her husband and 7 year old daughter. They had a standard room and she said they had plenty of space and she loved it. She told me she'd prefer to stay there again if they go back (rather than All Star Music). This was their first trip to Disney so I think they liked that Best Western was a bit more calm after a long day at the parks and much less crowded. To be fair there is a reason it's much less crowded - it's much smaller!!
All in all... they were very happy. It's not a far drive at all and trust me I've stayed at a few off site places that weren't so great (cleanliness). They found everything to be very clean and were very happy.
Good luck with your trip!!

Ps They did have a car (drove down) so they didn't take advantage of the shuttles. Honestly I wouldn't rely on an off site shuttle. (Some might be excellent but I'd be nervous to rely on them...)

I stayed at the Best Western Lakeside from Oct 30th / 06 - Nov 14th/ 06. I absolutely loved the place! It was clean, the pools sparkling and shuttle service good. Shuttle bus was nice and clean. They played movies for kids.

The restaurants onsite are great. Kids eat free program was a big hit. Many foods establishments within walking distance. Walgreens is in the parking lot and great for gifts and snacks!

I booked this through Maritime Travel and it was just $41 nightly Canadian! I was planning to go back this December but got an email offer for 40% off room rates at Disney.

I am going back to Best Western Lakeside next October 2008...

Some amenities are:

free high speed internet
coffee maker with condiments
fridges in each room
in room safe big enough for laptops, cameras, and video recorders - all fit at the same time!
3 large heated swimming pools
laundry room
nice arcade
free mini golf
playground
25" color TV with cable/ disney
kids eat free
pizza hut onsite
convience store
Cabana bars with snacks and drinks at pools
Large rooms with table and two chairs

Hope you enjoy this place. It is definetely worth the money!

We stayed here back in Feb. I too had a good rate of $44.00. After three nites at ASMo this room felt huge. I liked having the large chifferobe that I could stack the suitcases in , so they were not in the way.

It is old - it was built the same time the Polyn was in 1971. but to me it is good condition.

does this hotel have a continental breakfast? i read on travelocity that it has breakfast. how was it?
