Has anyone stayed in this hotel lately?

DH & I stayed there 9-7 to 9-9 and it was a nice/clean motel. They let us check in early with no comment at all. But don't do like we did...... the room had not been cleaned and we went to Walgreen's and the Golden Coral and it still wasn't ready when we got back. Someone had not put it into the system to clean, so they gave us the room next door. That is the reason we never got to the pool. The next day we spent at Animal Kingdom & Epcot.

The room had a refrigerator, iron, ironing board, hair dryer - was on the bottom floor. They have wireless internet service in the lobby. It is free if you just go down and sit with your laptop - but there is a room to the side with computers that you pay to use. They also have dial up connections on the phones that you can use in the room. There is a small store/deli/pizza, bar area and restaurant with a buffet breakfast (and supposedly dinner). The breakfast was okay, but for my money, I had rather stop by the Golden Coral. Unless it came with your rate, of course. Oh, and the beds were actually decent.. not hard as a rock.

yes a few times, very good value motel. See link below to posts I have done before also other links within the post and a link to a site that offers this motel at a very good rate, usually around half everywhere else.

I got this for 50.00 Canadian.(our hotels are NOT this cheap!) Got the breakfast included with kids eating free! The last hotel we stayed in, we paid big bucks. We were never there! Always at the parks and then out to dinner and then bed. I just need a comfy place to rest my head.

Last Christmas...I didn't even get swimming. Going back to Florida this October 30th - Nov, 14th. Then back again next Christmas (2007) if I like it, then I stay again for this rate. Was the place decked out for Christmas?

thank again for being soo quick to answer!

The link did not show in my post sorry,
Here it is again (if it works) if you still want more info.
How much is the rate you paid in US$?
We get to hotel at around 9-10pm and out again when parks open, This Motel is ideal for that. Its not a luxury resort but great value.

Around $45.00 US. I just paid $50 Can to travel agent. Gosh, the cheapest hotel room in New Brunswick. Canada is about 100.00 Canadian! One swimming pool too!

Do you think this is a good rate?

Thank you for the link

Does that include tax and resort fee?
The site I use (hotelmartusa.com) it would be $39.80 inclusive/night for first 2 weeks in Nov but no breakfast included, so your rate is very good yes.
Hope you like it. have a good trip

That included taxes but not the resort fee.

I stayed there for two weeks in July. Like you, I wasn't really sure what to expect as I haven't stayed in a hotel for years.

I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was nice. It's not a deluxe hotel by any means but it's certainly not a cheap motel either. It's clean and tidy, the rooms were a fair size with ample storage room for all our clothes. I thought the decor was fine, not at all shabby or dated. We were given plenty of towels which were changed everyday. There was a safe and a fridge in the room. I also loved the pool area, again spotlessly clean with plenty of loungers, plus the barman at the Tiki Bar makes a nice strawberry daquiri

As for location, it's on the western side of the 192. It's on the opposite side of the road from Formosa Gardens just behind the Mining Co. mini golf place. It takes just minutes to get to Disney and has plenty of place to eat within a 2 minute drive or even a short walk if you're brave enough to cross the 192.

I didn't use it but there was also courtesy transportation to all the themeparks.

Now I am quite fussy when it comes to hotels and I'd read bad stuff on trip advisor which made me wonder if I'd booked the right hotel but I was really pleasantly surprised and would definitely go back if staying in a hotel again.

It has gone thru a refurb the past 12 months, it was getting a little dated. like brody-maddison says its a good place if your not expecting luxury. I think the poor reviews were before the refurb.
Don't forget to use Sherberth rd (think thats how its spelt) for going into Disney, cuts out all the traffic lights on 192.

Do they have traffic lights for crossing the 192?(If your walking) At Christmas is the place decked out?

Thanks Again!!!!

Below is the review I left at tripadvisor.com.
Great cheap hotel, will consider it when we go back (although I'd like to stay onsite to compare).

******************************************************

Stayed at Best Western Lakeside for seven nights, from September 10th to the 17th.

Based on what I payed for the hotel, my expectations weren't too high. I loved the hotel and would stay again for sure

PROS:

* It took me 10 minutes from the parking lot of the hotel to the parking lot of the Disney parks. 5 minutes to the Animal Kingdom

* The pool is great: clean, big with lots of chairs and tables available

* Free high-speed Internet connection

* Nice job done daily by the maid

* Walgreens in the parking lot is also great to buy water (don't buy at the parks, it's extremely expensive compared to taking it with you) and snacks

* Mini-fridge in the room, great for freezing water overnight to take to the parks next day

* Pizza Hut onsite was very convenient, we used it once when we were too tired to go out.

* Combination safe in the room, free of charge.

* Mini-golf and arcade room in the hotel, good for kids and teens

* There was a gym, but we didn't check it out

CONS:

* The 1st room we stayed at had part of the carpet soaked due to a problem with the A/C. Also, the wardrobe had a weird smell. I complained on Monday and it took them 2 days to see they couldn't fix ithe A/C problem. We were then offered to change to a room by the poolside and to have free breakfast for the remaining 4 days which was nice. The second room was much better, it seemed newer than the 1st one

* Breakfast: although it was free for us after the incident above (the regular price is 6.99 in September), it wasn't great compared to the breakfast from Ponderosa (3.99) and Golden Corral (6.49 after applying coupons find everywhere). If you have a car while in the hotel, PLEASE try to eat somewhere else. The good thing about the breakfast in the hotel was the fresh omelet.

* I checked the schedule for the free shuttles and it's not very good. I really would recommend renting a car. It's very cheap and offers great flexibility. But if you don't have a car/cant drive, it could be a plus. It's free after all

I recommend this hotel and would go back again, for sure. Just don't expect a luxury hotel for what you're paying.

Thank you for the review. Did the highway have crosswalk with lights for crossing over to Golden Correl?

Thank you

we were here in June this year.We loved it,very handy for Disney if you nip down Sherbeth rd.Also loved the fact that wallgreens was on site,i was in there getting my photo cd's made so i could reuse my memory sticks.

We didn't ever eat at the hotel but we tried a lot of the restaurants along 192.
There is a small grocery shop on site where you can get pizza and hot drinks.Being British we really appreciated that cup of tea at the end of the day!!

Charlleyann,

There was a crosswalk, yes. I read somewhere though (probably at Trip Advisor) that people should use the one in front of Golden Corral (around 500 meters from the hotel) as drivers respect that one more than the one in front of the hotel.

I really advise you to check the reviews from Trip Advisor website. Lots of good tips, including the one wayneg mentioned here (taking the Sherberth Road to go to Disney) I used that route when I went to Animal Kingdom, was there in 5 minutes.

And if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
