Best West-Coast Beach close to Orlando???

Anyone have any suggestions for good beaches on the west coast of FL other than Cocoa Beach and no more than 1 1/2 hrs from Orlando??? I'm having trouble finding anything online.... Thanks!

Cocoa is on the east coast. Look at beaches in the Sarasota area.

Cocoa is nice. THe pier is cool, and the other major beach area is right by a park with showers, and Ron Jon surf shop.

It is very "spring break" atmosphere though. Not a very quiet beach.

If you Google "Shark Bite Capital of the World", New Smyrna Beach will come up.

I know someone will now say, "Well I've never been bitten by one...." but that doesn't matter. Others have.

Siesta Key or Anna Maria Island near Sarasota. The beaches are the best.

Siesta key is beautiful. It's been voted best beach in the us for the past couple years. The white sand there doesn't get hot and the water is clear and beautiful. The lifegaurds there are amazing as well. I actually passed out on the beach from dehydration in June and lifeguards and paramedics were there in seconds. I moved to SW Florida last year and it's my favorite beach I've been too.
