Hi all
I am wondering what the best summer week for 2018 will be to travel to WDW.
am travelling from NY by car with 3 adults and 2 kids 8&6.
looking to stay at port orleans or rent DVC points.
any info anyone can provide is much appreciated.

I'm not sure when your summer break begins and ends, but generally speaking, the earlier, the better.

The "best" week is whichever one you pick...really. The holidays (Memorial, 4th of July, Labor) are busier than the others, but beyond that it's really more about when you want to go.

Guessing from NY your schools don't get out until mid-June and back after labor day. Really it will vary some week to week but the typical busier times will be your Monday holiday weekends. We went a few years ago in June and it was busy but not out of control by our standards and we went August 12-15 this year and felt it was the same (excluding Pandora). I think really whatever fits your schedule/budget, will be fine.

I agree with June and August being about the same. We went in June last year and arrived August 11th this year. We were there at the same time lol. If you want least crowded I would go the last week of August and first week in Sept. We use to go every Labor Day week and I didn't think crowds were awful. Bad thing about that time is the hurricanes can bring bad weather.

I was just about to ask the same question---We are currently booked for February because we wanted to avoid major heat, but unfortunately will most likely have to reschedule. We are also coming from NY and are looking at either the last week in June or mid-August.....After reading this thread, it seems like no major difference? I know it will be hot either time and crowds might be slightly better in August, but we're leaning towards June as it is slightly more convenient with our schedules.

Also, it really depends on how you define "best." I would take June over the heat and humidity of July, August, or September even if the crowds we're significantly higher.

Yes! June is definitely hit or miss for weather and crowds, but July and August are NOT. Those months will be crowded, and will be hot guaranteed. We've gone early June and had a blast.

Our favorite week is right as soon as school is out, which is the Friday before Memorial day for us. The last trip, we did wait until the week after Memorial Day and it wasn't too bad crowd-wise.

When we went in June in 2016 it was around 90 so not much different than August except August seems a little more humid.

I feel like June or August will be hot for you coming from up north, however, I would pick June over August. My prior visits in June were not as hot feeling to me than our most recent August trip. While temps may not be very different, August and September are a tad more humid.
