We're considering WDW for a week or so in May 2011. Here's what I am looking for......Low crowds and tolerable temperatures. Our family is NOT cut out for crowds and we avoid them like the plague, especially at WDW. As for heat, that's relative. We're from Texas, so we're used to horrible heat, we just don't like it. One friend told me WDW was in the low to mid-80s in early May and we can deal with that, but someone else said it was "unbelievably hot." Which is it?

In your opinion, what is the best week to visit in May and why do you think so? Also, please give me temps in actual numbers, so I can relate to it. :rotfl2: Could you please say what year you went, because I think traffic patterns have changed a TON over the past few years.

Odds are, we'd go April 30-May 7 or May 7-14. There is a slim chance of May 14-21. Very slim, since it gets hotter every day.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We were there from May 1-8 this year. It was hotter than usual (low 90s), but very manageable because the crowd levels were very moderate. Not January low, but not crowded by any means. Our worst day was a 6, most were 4s.

As the month rolls along, the crowds get thicker and the humidity starts to build up - so the earlier the better, IMO.

We have done first week two times, the 3rd week and 4tg week. Except for Memorial Day weekend, the crowds and heat have been similar. Both our "first week" trips have had unusually high temps.

1st week in May is very low crowds. I go every year at this time and it is typically low 90's and humid.

We just went this year from May 7-16. First day was warm- not hot. Second day was hot about 88. Third day was hotter, about 90. So on and so on. Every day got progressivly hotter and more humid. By our last day, we were so happy to be heading back to PA for 70 degree weather! (and I am usually crying when I leave)

Seriously, I can not handle the heat and I was dying. I was miserable and just wanted to be in my room or in the pool.

Crowd wise, there seemed to be a lot of people there, but we managed to get on most rides with FP early in the morning. By 2/3, every park was packed! I am talking it was a 90 min wait for Space Mountain, and a 120 min wait for TSM. It really seemd crowded to us, but we usually go in December or early February. We are used to crowd levels of 4-5 and the crowd levels during our week were close to 7-8.

We went to AM EMH and stayed until about 12. Left and had lunch in a resort or at our resort and then napped or swam for a few hours. We went back to a differnt park around 5pm and had dinner there and stayed until close. Once night rolled around it was quite pleasant, but not until about 8/9pm.

I am thinking that Easter is very late next year.... end of April....

I would plan to go as early in May as possible after the week following Easter is over. ;)

I was there on the 13th. I usually go the first two weeks, But went for the 13th this year, I found it very crowded, for me, I am used to no waits! I have never even used a FP! The bugs were bad to this year! I ended up in the hospital with them. so I would do the first week.

We've been a couple of different times in May. Our favorite time was the first week in May. The weather was warm, but not unbearable. And the crowds were perfect!
